how scary expedition everest

How scary was expedition everestin animal kingdom? do you re ommened this ride?

not bad at all....you really can't see whats coming which, imo, takes away the fright of seeing something ten stories tall...

my 8YO daughter and i got there at 9:05 and rode it twice with no wait whatsoever...

My 2 cents:

I absolutely LOVE the ride. I am not a super-thrill ride person, however I've done just about all the thrill-type rides at WDW, and love them all. However, trying to be fully objective - Everest is definitely one of the more "smooth" roller coasters, definitely much less jerky than Space Mtn. However, I'd personally rank Everest at the highest intensity of all the roller coasters. With Everest I get that feeling in my stomach, particularly at the backwards portion - and I did not even get that feeling on Rock 'n Roller Coaster. I personally don't mind that sensation, but I would say that Everest is the most intense.

My father's perspective - he loves Splash and Big Thunder, but stopped going on Space a few trips ago because it is too jerky. He just tried Everest for the first time, and I don't think he'll go on it again - a little too jerky and too intense for him.

i found Big Thunder the jerkiest of all the rides...if you have back problems that's one ride i would not recommend...

Roller coasters don't usually bother my DH, but he gets sick on rides that go backwards and was literally green the first time we rode EE. Now we take Dramamine at night and neither of us have any problem with the rides the next day. This year when we rode EE (3 times!) he loved it.

I didn't find it scary, per se, but did make me feel very sick! I think it was the going backwards, in the dark, fast, nearly upside down, in 100 degree weather that did me in!

Yeah, I got nauseous too, and I had taken preemptive Bonine, which usually works for me. I think it was the heat/backwards/early morning combo that did me in.

It was a shame because I liked the ride and the theming otherwise. I'll probably try it again on a cool day (I'll be back in December).

Ummm, no. You go backwards in the dark and through a loop. But after coming out of the loop you're going forwards again. Also, if you geet disoriented easily there are construction seams in the mountain wall that let in some of the outside light. Watch for these and it might help.

Also, remember what (I'm told) fighter pilots do to deal with G forces - when going into the loop, dig your feet into the floor and hold them there. This is probably more important for Mission Space than EE, but it definitely helps me in the loops.

There is no loop..it doesnt go upside down. You go backwards in the dark yes, but you go upwards...backwards lol.

I look down to the left and see the bit of light coming thru the mountain and you can see yourself going up...backwards. Kinda cool feeling.

I totally know what you are going through. We went to Animal Kingdom on our second day of Disney. But I spent the whole first day in lines at the Magic Kingdom asking if anyone had ridden Everest. I really wanted to go on it but did not want to be terrified and/or get sick (that would ruin the whole day). I did stress over it and actually sent my daughter on the ride first by herself to see if I could "handle" it. (I tend to get motion sick). In sitting with the rest of people who chose not to go on Everest, watching the train come down "the hill" and there were a lot of "horror stories" from people 'who heard from other people' that it was scary. I had about convinced myself not to go on. But my daughter came back and said she thought I could handle it. I was so nervous I was almost shaking up the hill. But I did get through the ride and enjoyed it so much I went on it 4 more times that day. I hope that is the kind of experience you get if you choose to go on it. But if you don't -- it truly is only one ride among others you can enjoy so don't stress too much :)
