How rude and Selfish Is This?!?!?!?

I know someone who collects food to take to a donation bank. She gets it from people she knows, and makes one run to the bank with several bags at a time, so the people don't each have to go themselves.

I thought that this was great, since I know some of the people have an easy time getting it to her instead of taking it to the bank, and that's only if they would take it to the bank in the first place.

Well, I found out that this person, when she gets food, goes through the bags before taking them to the donation bank, and takes out things that she and her family like!

I can't believe someone would do something like this.

I would make sure that all those people donating know this before they "donate" again.....How horrible!

We do a lot of collecting for our local food bank...food drives,etc...it has NEVER crossed my mind to do this...yes,lots of people donate what they have in their cupboards, things not really needed by the food bank....but I would never think to take it out and keep it for myself!

She wouldn't be getting any more food from me. I'd take it myself and urge the others to do the same or discourage them using her aa a courier.

So if a person observes someone stealing from charitable donations, what is the responsibility of the person who knows about the theft?

Should they speak up? If they choose silence, does that mean they are now quietly assisting in the theft?

Why would people donate fresh seafood?

From what I know it's things like jars of peanut butter and sauce, boxes of pasta, canned soup, condiments, etc.
