How realistic is it to rent points for May?

Hi -
I just sent someone an email because I'm interested in renting points for a studio, preferably at WLV, BCV, BWV, for the nights of May 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13.

Does anyone know how realistic it is to think I might be able to get into any of those places on those dates? Is it way too late? Can I call someone at Disney to ask about availability before renting someone's points?

I am new to all this - we were just thinking that we would like to stay at a DVC property on this trip since I am now getting excited about buying into DVC and we'd like to try before we buy.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I think you have the right idea to try before you buy. More people should do that IMHO. I'm sure someone will offer you points and will probably be able to check on availability before too long.

An acquaintance of mine is going on his honeymoon in June to WDW and the prices were crazy for the nicer resorts, so I rented him some points for a few nights in a studio. I reserved about a month ago and there was plenty of availability everywhere. May is probably not out of the question!

I got a ressie for my Aunt first week in May a couple of weeks back. BWV and BCV well all full up (for studios, but some 1BRs available) for her dates, so we waitlisted and went for OKW (did not check VWL). I expect she'll really enjoy OKW tho.

I rented points for 1st week of may about 1 month ago and OKW was the only resort with studios left.

We took a studio at OKW for May 17-20. We're on the waitlist for BCV, BWV or SSR.

Thanks, everyone for your responses. Looks like we may have to try our little experiment another time, with more advance notice.
