How old were you when you bought your first home?

Bought our first home at 36! Homes in MA are also expensive and rents are even worse! Every time we thought we could put a little extra cash away our landlord went up on the rent!

Our home is now worth more than double what we paid for it! Glad we were able to buy when we did! Annmarie

We were 28.

My financial priorities after high school & before buying a house was BS degree then paying off college loans in a hurry. Also, paying for our wedding & honeymoon & cars for each of us.

After that, we started saving & got really lucky by buying our condo in 1993 when real estate prices were rock bottom due to bad economy & 10% unemployment. I was working at a bank at the time & saw so many unemployment checks & mtg foreclosures. A year later, I was laid off too.

We still live in the same condo. We couldn't touch prices here in MA ---- and still do the other things we like to do in life (travel, jetski, save for the future............) Only 9 yrs left on mtg, but it may be pd off sooner than that.

We were both 30. It took moving to Phoenix and a more affordable housing market for us to get in our 1st home.
We have been here 5 years and love it !! Our house is worth almost double what we paid for it. (but we have refinanced since then

We were both 23. We're fortunate to live in an area where new starter homes are around $85,000. Our house is nicer than a starter, but it's still not very expensive compared to what a lot of you paid for your houses.

5 years ago when I was 27. We were renting in Manhattan then, and we're paying ridiculous price. So we bought in Jersey, and mortgage payment is cheaper than rent. Last year, we sold our Jersey condo and bought one in NYC. That was the best investment I ever have. And hope this one is too.

I was 19 yrs. old and my dh was 25. We bought it with my db & dsil. We sold it 8 yrs later and bought our own after having 7 kids between the 2 of us. That was really hard. I really missed having my sil in the same house as I was, and the kids really missed each other.

We bought our house just before we got married. Our friends from Mexico (who were visiting for our wedding) moved in for a couple of weeks to house-sit until we got home from the honeymoon. I was 23. We both lived with our parents before we got married.

I just turned 25 and DH was 27 when we bought our first home as newlyweds. I think it cost $77,000 back then for a 1500 sq foot home.

We bought our first home when DH and I were both 27...it was a triple wide mobile home and cost right at $58,000......3 years later about 3 months ago we decided to sell it and go in together with my mom on a large house.....This really feels like our first "home" We are 30 and it cost $220,000.

I hope to be 38. DH has been in the military for 18 years and we have been on the move, he retires in a little over two years and we hope to purchase our first home at that time.

I was 23 and DH was 21, we bought it just before we got married. We had no money really, had to get 2 mortgages to buy it. It was a duplex and we rented out the second floor. We sold it 7 years later for 3X what we paid for it. It worked out well.

I was 28 and my DH was 30 when we bought our first home. We lived in it for 13 years than sold it to our eldest son and bought another one, which we sold 14 years later. We're now renting because we moved to Ohio from the Northeast (to be with children and grandchildren) but we don't see Ohio as our permanent retirement state. Hopefully, in a few more years (when youngest grandsons are older) we'll move further south but right now we're enjoying renting.

My DH bought the house we live in way before I met him. He was 19 when he bought it.

DH had bought his mothers house at 25 with his father as the cosigner. So, after we got married, and refinanced with our wedding money, DH & FIL had to "sell" the house to DH and I. I was 23.
DH & I bought our current, and hopefully last house at 30(him) and 27(me)

Where to start? First home I guess I was about 20. have built a new home every three years or so ever since. The home we are in now is by far my favorite, so we'll stay here until kids are out of school (about 4 more years) and then maybe? move to a home we have in Clearwater Florida. just a hop skip and a jump to WDW

But it would be very hard to leave Idaho
