How old was your child...

I think just about any age is fine for Disney, within reason of course. It just depends on the child. We took DS at 3.5, and for him, that was probably perfect. Standing in any type of line with him before that would have been almost impossible, and I don't think he would have enjoyed it nearly as much as he did at 3.5. He is a very spirited, very active kiddo though.

In our grand gathering group we had a 2 month old, 5, and 9 year old on our last trip. On our next trip we will have a 1 year old (celebrating birthday at the park), 3, 8 (celebrating birthday at the park), 12, and 12 year old. What ever the ages, children will always have a good time, no matter if they don't remember going, the parents will always hold the memories close to their heart!!

Both of my girls went at 13 months and loved it! We kept an easy schedule with naps built in. We also went with the mindset that we'll see what we see and not worry about the rest. Some things surprisingly scared our little ones (movie attractions), so we just stayed away and did the things they loved (It's a Small World).

As long as go into it with relaxed expectations, you'll have a GREAT time! When we go back and watch our videos of taking our girls at that age, I get teary because their delight on their faces is so adorable!

I voted 1 year. (DS was specifically 18mths.) We had traveled to Florida to visit his great-grandparents, about an hour from Orlando, and did a day-drip to the Magic Kingdom. I just sort of couldn't be that close and NOT go. It was a great day!

I see no reason to take a child any younger to Disney as they have no or few "real" memories of it anyway. (Mostly, it is just what they can see through photos after returning and what their parents tell them so many times it seems like a memory.)

Let's face it, Disney is expensive. While I agree that a photo of a precious toddler hugging Mickey or Pooh is adorable, I just wouldn't do it unless there were either older children going as well or the trip was more for the adults than the child.

But, this is just my opinion.

Whenever you choose to go to Disney, have a wonderful time!

We took my DS at 7 months, then again at 1 1/2. He remembers A LOT of that trip.... the "Pooh Ride", the "AAAAAH" ride (people going down the hill on Everest and screaming... he LOVED watching them and even now will just say "AAAH ride!" and throw his arms in the air), Pirates, the Haunted Mansion (no lika gossts, mommy!), the monorail, the castle... I could go on and on. He's 2 now and were going back in July.

We got him the Happiest Celebration Viewmaster and just yesterday he saw "the Ball Ride" (Spaceship Eath) on it and demanded we take a "walk to Dih-nee" right NOW.

We took our son at 6 and DD4. We waited for two reasons 1) they will not remember much if going when too young and 2) I did not want to deal with diaper bags in the parks.
My son remembers the first trip but my daughter does not remember with such details as he does.

We first took our son last September and he was 11 months old. We had a great time. I don't think there is a 'right' age. I guess it's how you feel about going on vacation and spending time together as a family. If you don't like going on a simple weekend getaway with your family, then I wouldn't plan a huge Disney vacation.

Our grand gathering had 17 total and 6 of them were under 5 (4, 2, 20m, 10m, 7m, 6m). We are going on another grand gathering on the Wonder in December where there will be one more will added to the mix. DS2 will be 6 months old and although he won't remember anything about the trip, that's not the point. Seeing my family together and enjoying the smiles on my kids' faces will be worth it all.

My DD was 2 when we went for the 1st time and she had a blast. We did too, she was amazed by everything.

We also took my niece when she was 2 for the first time and it was the same- She was so excited when she saw pooh the first time while riding on her fathers shoulders that she almost choked him to death.

We went for DD's 1st birthday - DH had to attend a conference that happened to fall over her birthday, it happened to be in Orlando that year so we lucked out. I would have gone wherever it was, it was important to me that DD and DH be together for her 1st birthday, but karma was on our side that year and it was at the Gaylord Palms.

I just wanted to add another reason why we've taken our kids since they were infants. We love to travel and we want to expose our kids to traveling.

Compared to other travel destinations..WDW is a very easy trip. Luggage transfer, Transportation, and a destination that caters to children and provides constant entertainment.. Not many places are that easy.

I have to say my older daughter is now a seasoned traveler. She is comfortable on airplanes, security lines, enjoys sleeping in hotels, and is very well behaved in restaurants because she was exposed to all of it from a young age.

Our son was 2 almost 3 when we decided to go. He was that age because DH and I planned the trip on a total whim, we had been wanting to take a vacation and I saw an add for free dining, not like we had a set age in mind before we would take a child to disney. We are hoping to go this year with DD, have to see how $$ pan out, but she will be 2.5. I think DS was the right age because we was old enough to get it, and enjoy it, and remember some of our trip, he still talks about it now and he is 5. Plus for me it was a nice thing that he was potty trained so we didn't have to mess with diapers. DD age is more that we told DS that she needed to be close to as old as DS was the first time we took him. DS was a little older but with DD has a summer birthday we would have to go during the busy season, which we did not want to do, and we really wanted to see the holiday decorations.

We took our son when he was 3 months old. He is adopted and we did not know he was going to be with us when we made our plans. We had a great time. He is sleeping in almost every picture we have of his with the characters. Now he is 4 1/2 and he laughs at the pictures when he sees them. I personally dont think there is a "right" or "wrong" age to bring you rown kids to Disney. Each family is different and each child is different. If you go in with the attidue of " we are going to have a good time no matter what we wind up doing" you just cant go wrong. DS has been to WDW 8 times and we are working on the 9th next year. Each time we go, his tastes change. Last time, we wound up riding Soarin about 10 times. Had to work at that one!!!

I didnt know which one to choose, so I just chose for my youngest. My husband and 2 sons went for the first time ever this year. DH was 27, DS1 was 3, and DS2 was 1.

My husband is just like a kid though.

My 1yr old loved it and we are going for his birthday in december. He really enjoyed meeting "Mouse Mouse" (that's what he calls Mickey Mouse).

Mine was 7 but the reason we waited so long was because of his multiple food allergies. I was afraid to travel at all with him until one day I realized that Disney really does a SUPER job with keeping people safe when it comes to food allergies and issues. This June will be our third summer trip in a row!

We haven't gone yet but we were planning on going for DD's 2nd birthday but financially we can't swing it.

I put one, but they were actually younger than that. Maybe around 5/6 months old.

We go to disney every year, that's before we had kids and after.

We could not afford to go when my kids were babies and I had a job at the time that it was very difficult to get time off from.
However, one of the most important reasons we waited was because I wanted them to remember it and to be able to handle the pace without temper tantrums or meltdowns when they had to wait in line.
My son turned 12 there on his first trip and my youngest was 9.
It was a FABULOUS trip and we have so many fond memories!

The first trip in 2006 DD was 3 and DS 10mths. We just went again in April and my other DS 15mths.

It was actually easier when DS was 10mth than this time when he was 3

But we all had a great time each visit and I love seeing my babies' expression. And even though everyone says they wont remember it, I remember and will alway cherish the memories.

We took our DS for the first time three weeks after he turned one and we had a fantastic time!! Disney really has family travel down to a science. Everything we could possibly need to accommodate our little one was always right at hand. And we all really enjoyed ourselves!! When he was awake he really enjoyed all of the sights and sounds and when he napped, DH and I were able to take quiet strolls around the parks, perused the Food and Wine festival - it was great!! DS is now 19 months and I know he would enjoy it even more now!! He now knows who Pooh and Mickey are and is walking and running around. We have our next trip planned for this October right after he turns two and I can't wait to see the look on his face when he goes on Pooh's ride. And this year he can actually play at the Pooh's Playful Spot. I would not hesitate to take a 20 month old to WDW!!!
