How old is too old?

On my last trip, I was called a "disgusting pig" by other people in the park because we were getting character autographs. Mind you, we waited in line for them and were not doing anything wrong, but since the CM cut the line at us, the other kids would have to wait 15 minutes until they came out again. To them, I say nothing and walk away (I got my autograph, after all). To everyone else, I say you are never too old to be doing anything at Disney. It is built so both the young and old can enjoy it all, whether it be interacting with the characters or riding the rides. You pay the same as everyone else to get to the parks. You have the right to use and do whatever is offered there!

That woman really needs to get into the Disney spirit. After all, what rides could SHE ride if you are "too old" for most of them?

I can't help but keep thinking about the original post and that old woman. And the more I think about it, the more I get enraged.

How dare she make any judgement calls. I suspect her own children are repressed and probably grew up thinking that there were limitations in virtually everything due to this bitter bat's idea of proper protocol.

If she can think such things in the middle of Walt Disney World, I've absolutely no doubt she lives her life beyond those walls as a bitter, repressed, miserable old hag (I'd prefer to put a different final word than "hag" but I'll reign it in on this particular board).

She wants a judgement? She just got one baby!

As an aside but still on topic, sure the rides in Walt Disney World are geared towards children. If they weren't, would we all be such ardent fans? I'm sure there are quite a few out there that visit the World for the same reason why I do.

It's an escape from the outside where we can rediscover our own childhood, if even for a short time. We go to forget about bills, rent, mortgages, clients, work, traffic, war, disease, hunger, death and the other mundane to horrific elements that are in our daily lives. We leave all that behind and relearn to smile, laugh, enjoy ourselves, our friends, our families. We go to recharge our batteries.

So Old Bitter Lady... you don't think grown ups should ride Dumbo? You're entitled to your opinion. But get the Hell out of my way, 'cause I'm next!

You are never too old. Some people just don't get it and never will. They must have a very boring life. I never went to Disney as a child, never had the chance, but I always wanted a Mickey Ears hat with my name on it. I was "old" when I finally bought myself one.

ENJOY!!!!!!!

I'm glad that you weren't afraid to do what you wanted to do. If you want to get autographs then more power to you. On our last trip to DL, my SO did the same thing. She had wanted to bring her 18 month old Granddaughter with us. The parents are divorcing and there is going to be an ugly custody battle. The GD is with her other Grandmother in Michigan who wouldn't let her go because she was afraid that we wouldn't bring her back  . Getting the autographs for her GD was how my SO dealt with it. I had to explain this to more than one irate parent...which is sad because it was none of their business. One nice thing during this was when we were going through the Pooh meet and greet area. As we approached the first part, which was Tigger and Eeyore, the CM got a big smile on her face and said "It's nice to see that some of the big kids know how to enjoy themselves". I bet for every adult getting autographs there are a dozen who want to but are afraid of the backlash from the idiots out there.
Sorry to ramble. We now take you back to our regularly scheduled thread :D

That was such a sweet thing to do! I'm sure your GD treasures that book! Its a shame that she couldn't go on the trip. Hopefully everything will end up okay and she will have some other chances to get to go and see the characters herself!

If you want to get autographs, go get them, no matter how old you are! If you want to hug the characters, don't be afraid, do it! Just remember to bring your camera! At Disney, there are no age limits, only height limits.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but

My take on this is the woman was trying to get people infront of her to leave line so it would be shorter for her. I've seen it before where parents are getting upset with adults riding and then they go on themselves with their kids (not too young). So people will do anything to make a line shorter. Usually these are the same people who try to cut in line.

I know when I go on my Honeymoon, I will go on any ride I want and enjoy it as though I was 5. it makes me happy just being in the world.

That's exactly why I couldn't convince my boyfriend to ride Dumbo .... well that and the 45 minute wait  We're going to go fo sure next time though :)

It's true there are no "age limits" at WDW. If you want to ride Dumbo or the Carousel or get Mickey or Cinderella's atograph, I say go ahead and do it. As long as you wait in line like any other guest, there's nothing wrong with it. Obviously Disney doesn't believe that Dumbo is just for kids. I've seen lots of broshures and videos that show adults ridding them and other rides like that. WDW is a place to feel like a kid again. I say ride and enjoy.

I rode dumbo quiet a few times last year and I was well over the kid stage. I loved it and had a blast. I usually only did it when I could do it first thing in the morning right after the park opened.
