How old is too old to trick or treat?

As long as you have a respectable costume, still say "Trick or Treat" and act like a decent person, I don't think there should be an age limit.

I absolutely DESPISE the teenagers that go around with a mask or nothing at all. They ruin it for the rest of us.

Here is a "terrible teenager" story for you- my daughter was not able to trick or treat this year due to the fact she has H1N1- the girl across the street is 13 years old, she knocked on our door at 830 last night and handed me a giant bag full of candy that she had trick or treated for "I know that ... couldn't go out trick or treating this year so I went out for her and got her all this candy" She didn't have a costume because she wasn't going to go out this year for herself but she went out door to door and got candy for my daughter. It made my daughters night! I had toldher I would go out and buy her a couple bags of candy but that wasnt the same of coming home with that mystery bag, dumping it out and going through all the candy--this girl across the street made that happen and I really really appreciate what she did.

What a wonderful friend.

A friend and I caught some flack for trick or treating in 9th grade. After hearing it from so many people, we finally started prefacing everything we said with, "We swear, this is our last year!" :laughing:

ITA! Especially with the kids who don't want to even say Trick or Treat. Just got those give me looks on their faces with no costumes. :mad: I ask them what are the magic words. Then they will say it. :rolleyes:

I think the last time I went trick or treating was when I was in middle school.

We live in a suburb that's pretty easy to tell kids who live around here and kids who don't...seriously, we had about 10 kids from our community come trick or treating. All the rest were from the inner city. You should have seen our street, there were cars parked everywhere and all these kids (and in some instances teenagers and adults) running back and forth across the street. I kid you not, we had one little girl who got her candy and asked for more for her mother who was at the house next door. :confused3:rolleyes:

That being said, we'll give out our candy to everyone but it was annoying when we had people who just stood outside the door without ringing the doorbell and just stick their bags out like they've never seen candy before. :confused3

In 6th grade I stopped TOT'ing and I gave out candy that year. But 7th and 8th grade I un-retired and went with my friends. This year,(I'm a freshman in HS) I gave out candy and did homework. I didn't mind and almost all the kids were very polite. I only saw 3 groups of olders kids and only 1 group wasn't dressed up and were very impolite. I let that group only get 1 piece of candy each. (;

We give candy to anyone in a costume- but I'll say that if you are old enough to smoke you shouldn't be trick or treating. (Yes these were teens smoking in costume!)

My 15 year old didn't go out this year(he sat home with his girlfriend handing out candy-) but there were plenty of his friends that went out.

Anyone who wants to dress up and get in the spirit of Halloween gets candy - there is no age limit.

:thumbsup2 completely agree! People complain all the time about kids growing up too fast these days, but if they try to act like 'kids' and trick or treat then people complain that they are too old:confused3

As long as they are having fun I say do it til you graduate college for all I care!!
