I walked into the bathroom by Hoop-Dee-Doo revue and when I walked into the "ladies" room there were two boys in there. They looked to be around 12-13 years old. I was taken back and said "am I in the right bathroom". I seriously thought I walked into the men bathroom. The boys left but I thought that was a little weird for boys that old being in the ladies room. So what do you think is to old for the boys or even girls to go in the bathroom with the opposite sex?

Doesn't this 1000+ reply overly controversial subject come up every other month? Isn't it tiresome by now?

I haven't seen any threads about this. :confused3

having 2 non-verbal austic boys - I emailed Disney & asked
age 10 is the limit
so if I needed to take the boys by myself - I need to use the companion bathroom - if no companion bathroom was close by (like at Chef Mickey's) then I got a staff to check to make sure no one was in the lady's room & the staff stood outside & made anyone else wait until we came out - I gave permission for said staff to say austic boy with mom - no one came that time

I have been thinking about this a lot. My son is 4.5. However, I would not leave my five year old outside alone in a place like Disney. I still have to take him in with me at times when we are out and about alone. The world is such a different place now days.

At our local YMCA a child over 5 must use their own sexes locker room and bathroom-
I would say at disney or anywhere else 7 should be the cut off.

I have a 5 year old boy and am concerned about this. He could go in a bathroom alone and function fine.

I am just concerned about all the weirdos out there!

I always worry that he disturbs other ladies. Luckily he looks younger than he is.

i think 12 and 13 are too old to be in the ladies bathroom. Unless the are disabled and have a female companion with them.

I was at WDW last week and saw a mom guiding her son to the men's room door and then standing literally right outside. He was maybe 7. I think 5 is young to go alone.

Thankfully I am not in that situation, but I do think 12 is too old. When I was at Disneyland I did see a few that made me raise my eyebrows. These boys looked around 9 or 10. I only saw one older teen who clearly was disabled. So that didn't bother me at all.

That would be me, my little guys 7 I hate sending him in public bathrooms alone. You never know what creepy guys are in there.

I think Disney's answer was good with age 10 being a cut-off but there are some 10 year olds who look quite a bit older. Their response showed compassion and understanding for parents of special needs children :thumbsup2 There is no way I would want to see a 12 or 13 year old in the ladies room :rolleyes1

Maybe they walked into the wrong bathroom!

I personally think it is more amazing that no one else came up with that possibility. The likelihood is that this is exactly what happened. Sometimes places in Disney can get a little to "cute" with their signage and it isn't always immediately clear which is which especially to a non-worldly preteen. There are still some of those out and about.

Any age is the wrong age when the boy in question wanted to go to the boys room and mistakenly went to the girls room. I'm not even sure why in this case the conversation even got started on the proper age for boys to get into the wrong bathroom accidentally.:confused3 And at what age is it inappropriate for a girl to be in the boys room? That happens all the time as well.
