As I reached for a shirt this morning I realized I bought this shirt while pregnant with ds#2. So it is almost 6 yo. That got me thinking......the oldest thing I have is a pair of jeans from 1991. They don't fit. They never will fit again but I keep them anyway.

The oldest thing that I still wear.......a turtleneck I bought while pg with ds#1, so 8 years.

What about you?

I am notorious for this. I cringe while watching Clean Sweep on TLC when they go through people's wardrobes. I just was cleaning my sweater closet - yes, here in the NE you have to have a whole closet dedicated to sweaters - and I was holding in my hands a sweater from when I was 14 and I couldn't get myself to throw it out. I thought it was a great representation of the clothes I loved to wear then and it brought back a lot of great memories. I don't wear it anymore, well, hardly ever, so I just folded it into the back of the closet.

I am, however, very proud of myself for actually beginning to donate some of my clothing in the last few years.

I have a London Fog rain coat that must be at least 10 yrs old.

I still wear it & it still looks like new. Wonderful quality!!

That would be my wedding gown, though I don't really consider it part of my wardrobe. After that it would be a robe I purchased at the market right outside POTC waaaaay back when. I think I was 17. It is a beautiful royal blue with African print on it. I still wear it and love it. (Gotta love polyesther! Actually I never wear synthetics, except this robe)

Keep the Faith!

Good clothes can last a while. I have a wool skirt that was my mom's when she was in college!

:o I have a military surplus parka from high school that I still wear to shovel snow and such. I guess I should be happy that it still fits after 30+ years. :p

I have clothes that are 50+ years old, but its stuff that I don't wear - just things I have picked up at thrift shops or belonged to my mother.

As far as clothes I wear, I have a black suit that I bought in 1988. If I lose the 25 pounds I gained from quitting smoking, I'll be able to wear it again. :)

Not what I would call part of my wardrobe, but I do have a 'beater' jacket, that I know I wore while laying under and working on my '56 Ford in my parent's garage back when I was 16 in '60. I still put it on if I am going to do something REALLY dirty and grimey, LOL. It is full of rips and grease. Marie tells me to throw it away each time I wear it (actually, I can fit into it again now too) which is maybe once every two years, but I tell her it is comfortable. :teeth:

I have a pair of my Mom's Christmas socks that are at least 14 years old.

Like Dan said

I have some old work clothes I just will not part with

I have a "good" coat that is at least 35 years old.
And a purse that was my mothers......from the 1940's.

Many dresses and skirts (that I seldom wear) that are 15-20 years old.

I have a few different items, and it's funny this should come up. On Sunday, I was wearing a sweater that I wear ALL THE TIME when it's chilly, and my bf asked me just exactly how old it was. Thinking about it, it's almost 10 years old now! I got it on a family trip to England from the Sweater Shop, and he was amazed at how new it still looked.

I still wear my high school letterman's jacket to this day...I've had that for almost 9 years now. I also wear a "Scholar of the Week" and my old Swim Team shirt from 9 years ago.

:)

The oldest thing that I wear frequently is my college sweatshirt. I think I bought it in 1983. So 20yrs old. It still looks good.
When I bought it I could NOT believe that I was paying $45 for it. I had NEVER bought an article of clothing that expensive.

My DH is always yelling at me to buy new clothes, especially when I bring the old junior high school clothes out! Mostly really comfortable sweats and a pair of jeans that just ripped a little last winter. He has a point since I was in Jr High School in 1982! They are just so comfy and baggy, I even wear some of them now while being pregnant.

It's not that we can't afford new clothes, I just hate clothes shopping with a passion. I'm also cheap and can't see throwing out good things. (ok, they are a little worn in spots!) :)

I have a wool coat I still wear, that I bought in 1977 as a sophomore in HS. I have lots of pieces that I still wear that I bought from about 83-86 ( lots of them are very classic pieces from the Limited's "Outback Red" line). The oldest dress that I wear was the dress my DGM wore to my parent's wedding ! Oh and also a gorgeous silk dress my other DGM bought in China in the 1930's !

I'm really bad! In the 4th grade we had a play about the Pioneers...I was the Mom in that play and I wore a calico robe my mom bought for me! LOL ...I also won the contest for the best dressed pioneer! lol...and yes the other day I was looking for something and there it was!...I really don't have a lot of old clothes but the ones I do have are really old! lol

So try 32/33 yrs old!

I have my 'coming home' from the hospital outfit when I was a baby - does that count?

I also have a sorority letter sweatshirt (17 years old :scared: ). I don't wear it, but have it for sentimental reasons.

I actually go through my closet twice a year and get rid of stuff. Out with old, in with the new (yep, LOVE to shop! :teeth: ).

I have a plastic bag full of clothes from 1987 when I was engaged...and REALLY skinny! I keep insisting that I'll fit back into them. :teeth: I'm working on it!! So that's almost 17 years! :earseek:

I have a black and white houndstooth blazer that I bought at Loehmanns in 1993.

I have a black leather motorcycle jacket that I bought in 1989.

I have a few concert t-shirts and sweatshirts from the early and mid-80's.

I have the "holly hobbie" style dress/bonnet/apron my mom made me to wear in the Bicentennial parade (in 1976, for those of you too young to remember!). I'm saving for my DD, who I'm SURE will be too cool to wear it when it finally fits her! Oh well..... as far as "regular" clothes that I still wear........ I am so much bigger (as in fatter) than I was before children, there is no way anything would every fit..... so the oldest clothes I still have and wear are only as old as my oldest child..... 8 1/2 yrs. ................P
