How old are you?

HEY GRINNINGHOST! I take OFFENSE to that statement about people who work at Walmart! been working there for 7 years!
No, REALLY! actually, I know what you mean. SOME of the cm's don't have the spark that they used to have just like SOME of the people at Walmart don't have that spark - it's NOT the easiest place to work sometimes so I can understand how some of the cast members feel even though they are supposed to be happy all the time.

I feel for anyone that has to work with the general public. {retail, as in walmart and disney, banks, fast food, etc.} I don't understand how you guys can do it and still attempt to be happy. The general public is a general nuisance. Not everyone I realize, but there are a lot of people that are too demanding, thinking the customer is always right, and they treat the poor retail folk very badly. And the miserable employer is no help either! They make more and more demands of these people, expect less workers to do more work. You guys in retail, including CMs, have my sympathy. :(

Oops, didn't mean to offend anyone on the Wal-Mart issue, but if you've ever been to our local Wal-Mart, you would have to agree they are the WORST employees anywhere on the planet. IF they decide to greet you, it's usually with a grunt. IF they thank you it's with a mumbled, almost inaudible thank you. Usually they just give you your bag and then they start the next order.

I must believe there really are good Wal-Mart employees out there, they just don't live in our local store.;)

29.5 here and I miss all of the old attractions. What I really miss is COP and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll be open in December.

Age 21, and I've made 30+ trips to see the mouse. I miss a lot of the old ones, especially Mr. Toad. I know a lot of people like Pooh, but I am, to put it fairly, not a fan in the slightest. Mr. Toad was such a great ride, and always commanded lines equal to the other Fantasyland biggies (Snow White and Peter Pan, the "equivalents"). I have to say though, as much as I miss the old ones (I LOVED Dreamflight) I do enjoy Buzz, Test Track, and Mission: Space is still in my undecided list (I rode it, but I'm not too sure yet...Not sickening, but I dunno). So...some ok changes, but it would've been nice to keep the old.

And how. When we first started going 6 years ago it had been since I was a kid myself since I had been there. So I went to go find one of my favorite attractions and it was GONE!!! I stopped a CM (a very young CM I might add) and was describing the attraction and he was looking at me like I was stupid. "There's never been a ride like that," he said and then a stranger who had overheard us said, "Oh you mean wings. Yeah it was over there! It's gone now." Waaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! I was so sad. My kids missed out on something special!

I always wish they would dig up all the old attractions and open a whole new park - Classic Disneyland or something like that. Just think, we could have If You Had Wings, Mr. Toad, the Swan Boats, 20K Leagues and lots more that have gone to the great beyond.:D

Oh the Swan Boats!!!! I forgot about the Swan Boats. When we pass by where they used to be my kids will say, "Yeah yeah yeah, mom, we know. There used to be Swan Boats there and your dad wouldn't let you ride them." <sigh> It was an unfufilled fantasy! :(

Yes; let's have a "Classic Disney" park. But it has to have a monorail connecting it to the rest of the park. Remember when the Monorail was an attraction instead of a mode of transportation at WDW? My grandfather and I got to ride up front once. That was totally awesome. My grandfather used to be a train engineer and he asked the pilot a million questions!

This is a wonderful thread that is bringing back a million memories!

Hey Grinninghost - no real offense taken. Actually, there is a Walmart about 15 miles away that even I won't go to because I don't think that the employees are very friendly! I guess you just have to be lucky enough to come to MY line! (haha)
I miss 20,000 leagues too! even though you KNEW the things were not REAL, it was exciting to be down there. I always got this quick breathing kind of thing when we went under...you know, sort of feint? maybe it's because I'm slightly clostrophobic?
(do you think?) anyway, everything is cool! take care - Helen

I'd be all for a "Classic Disney" park, but I doubt we'll ever see it - building it would be like Disney admitting it made a mistake by taking out the rides in the first place.

I'm 19, and I love all the old rides. I'd be so upset if they took out CoP completely. I loved Mr. Toad and Horizons, but I don't remember World of Motion very well. The original Imagination was my favorite when I was little... I made my dad ride it with me over and over again, and I still have my stuffed Figment. :D As for thrill rides, if Disney became just another thrill park I don't think I'd ever go again. I don't ride roller coasters, and it's not worth the price of admission to sit on a bench all day.

I'm going to be so sad when they take out Spaceship Earth. I don't graduate from college til 2005 so I don't have any money now, but I'm trying to make a trip to the World in the next year or so just so I can ride Spaceship Earth before it's gone. Will the CMs think I'm weird if I'm clinging to my ride car and weeping when the ride ends?

:p

I'm 45 and I used to love the old rides but I say bring on the thrills. Nobody does rides like disney. I went to four thrill parks so far this year and liked them all but I don't spend months planning for them. Who better than disney to put the thrill in thrill ride.

I'm still 39-lol-but only for a few more months! I only went once prior to 1997 and if you can believe do not remember a thing!

My social security # is 7 and I can't get a 3 minute egg at the diner unless I pay in advance.:)

I'm 42, and first went to WDW a year after they opened - I was 12. While I do miss a few of the attractions that aren't there any more (Mr Toad, If You Had Wings and/or Dreamflight, the Skyway), I would be terrible if WDW was the exact same as it was in 1973. I don't mind new thrill rides, but they have to make sure it isn't ONLY new thrill rides - we need things on par with HM or PotC.

I am 42 (soon to be 43) and I was not too happy with them making PoTC "Politically Correct". It should have been left the way it was. Don't get me started about CoP and Timekeeper... I wish they would keep CoP and Timekeeper, not just have them open during "PEAK" Season. Journey Into Imagination should have been left alone.

I have been going to DL since 68 and we first hit WDW in 75. Have seen both parks go through alot of changes. Living Seas was much better before.

Some of the rides at DL were very tame and they had to keep up with the times, but some things should just be left alone. Like the saying goes, "If it ain't broke... don't fix it!"

A Visit to Yesterland

I'm 41. I do miss many of the older rides, but I like a lot of the newer ones. Test Track is great. I will try Mission Space in December.

I'm 35 and I miss them. I really loved Horizons-my favorite at Epcot is Spaceship Earth and I'm really afraid they are going to do away with that as well. What can ya do? :(

39 here. My first trip to Disneyland was in 1971 for my 8th birthday. We still have the pictures. Gee, I even *liked* Small World back then!

I remember the skyway through the Matterhorn, the submarine ride, Rivers of America & Pirates without the PC stuff. Being scared of the Haunted Mansion (all the kids at school said someone died on the ride of fright and that it glowed green at night - I was soooooo stupid).

I remember America Sings! before all the animals got shipped off to Splash Mountain.

My Dis ID gives a hint at my age (no, I'm not 61).

I do miss those above mentioned attractions as well. I've been going to MK since the 70's.

I really try to be a girl of the 21st Century. But, my heart lies in the 60s, 70s and some of the 80's.

Anyway - to get back on track - I think these beloved attractions that are now gone or only seasonaly available - are, for us baby boomers, and the youngters, more of a nostalgic issue. It's like seeing your favorite movie from a long time ago or looking at some old family vacation films or photos. It brings back great memories. :D
