cook for your family? I think I need to cook more often, I haven't gotten used to working full time and keeping everything done too, and we seem to eat out toooo much! How many meals a week to you cook at home?

Snow, You are not alone. That's another thing for us women to feel guilty about:( ! I would like one of my New Year's resolutions to be more sit down dinners at home with food that I actually cooked!:)

This is one of the things I want to change at our house too. We usually eat out 2-3 times a week which is just awful. We always eat out on Sundays but I really want to cut the other nights out and eat at home 6 days a week.

We eat out on Friday nights usually. DD and I take our lunches to school and work, respectively. So basically I cook (or assemble) all our breakfasts, lunches and dinners every day but one.

It's more a matter of economics than convenience. I can have the money in my pocket and spend a little time in the kitchen or I can spend the money and then spend a lot of time at the dining room table figuring out how to live on less money :)

I cook about 10 times a week. Unless you call giving the kids a cup of cereal to eat in the truck on the way to school cooking. Then I cook an added 5 times more a week.;)

DH and the girls go to McDonalds for lunch once a week, other than that we usually don't eat out unless we are on the road. I eat at MIL's on Monday and my parents on Wednesday, the rest of the days we eat at home.

We eat out for lunch on Sundays.
Otherwise it is home-style for us :)

My Dh gets home before I do so he cooks for us. We very seldom eat our meals out.

My DH cooks more than I do. He gets home at 5:30, I get home at 7:00. He will do take out at least twice a week though. I always cook a big family meal on Sundays

Wow, you guys are good! I guess I need to get a little more organized (or a little less lazy  ) and cook more!!!

I'm terrible - I cook a 'real meal' twice a week at the most. I'd probably cook more often but with my oldest DD going to gymnastics 3 nights a week and DH playing cards 1 night a week, there's noone at home to eat anyway. I'm not about to cook a meal for the younger 2 when half the time they don't eat it anyway. I do try to buy healthy snacks, though, and when we get takeout during the week I try to get healthier meals....pizza, subway, or Chinese rather than McDonald's or Burger King.

We rotate the cooking duties, whoever is home first usually cooks. DH is a much better cook than I am, or so I have him convinced. :teeth:

We very rarely eat out. None of us like fast food, but maybe twice a year we order pizza, and probably 4 times a year go out to a restaurant.

When I worked outside the home we ate out every Friday night. During the week DH usually cooked or started dinner because he was the first one home and I cooked on the weekend.

Now that I work inside the home I cook all meals with the exception of when we BBQ, DH takes care of that. And we still usually eat out once a week, but the days vary depending on what we have going on.

We're a family who doesn't agree on anything, so we do alot of eating out where we can all get something we like. But we do try to manage about 3 to 4 nights of home cooked food. It's difficult, when DD only eats chicken, DH is a beef freak and I am a vegetable person. The only food we all really like is rigatoni.

We go through phases, depending on how much work my mom has. (She is a lawyer, so she always has a lot, but certain times of the year, like now, she is swamped.) When she has a lot of work, we only eat at home like 2-3 times. But other times, we always eat out at least once a week.

I plan to do more cooking at home after the first of the year. I have been missing it, and really would like to go more of it again. We do tend to go out quite often, either for lunch or dinner, since it's just the two of us. I hate to think how much $$ we'd save if we only went out once or twice a week. A lot of times I bring food home too, as I'm a waitress and work mostly evenings so quite often I'll bring leftovers home.

I want to do more baking too. I keep saying "we don't need it" so that justifies me not doing it, but it would be nice to have cookies in the house occasionally and I can always share some with our DH and DD and their families too!! :D
