Did you REALLY mean to use this word??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Spermatophobia or spermophobia = fear of germs

Honestly...

Admit it, it's an excellent word! :teeth:

ETA: Phobia list

I probably wash them every few days. I have been doing this for my entire life. When I was a kid, my mother did the same thing.

I have never had a skin staph infection. I hardly ever get colds. Every germ that floats by isn't going to kill you.

According to dictionary.com it's a fear, all right, but not of germs! :lmao:

And no, after the whole snarky definition, I'm not looking up spermatophobia in urbandictionary.com... OK, maybe I will... :teeth:

And yeah, it's an excellent word. I can even use it in a sentence... Tigger&Belle as a big Spermatophobia of snarky #11! :rotfl2:

LOL well I have no idea about dictionary.com, but when I studied psychology we were taught this word as meaning fear of germs. Funnily enough I never forgot it... :teeth: Just confirmed it with a few online psych web sites, for example:

http://www.planetpsych.com/zPsychology_101/disorders/phobias.htm

ETA: From dictionary.com:

Main Entry: spermophobia
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: a fear of germs
Etymology: spermo- `seed'

;)

Here's Dictionary.com's definition:

Main Entry: spermatophobia
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: a fear of the emission of semen, esp. involuntary; also written spermophobia

Maybe there is a different British definition. Here we call someone afraid of germs a germaphobe. And I thought that you were making a typo! :rotfl:

Same here. I can't imagine not washing them after every use. Yuck!!

When my son was younger, he had terrible eczema, to the point of having running sores that covered sometimes 20% of his body. Infections were common. I got in the habit of washing all towels after each use with bleach. I never got out of it. Now when I go to other people's houses, I can smell their "dirty" towels when I'm in the bathroom. I just became so sensitive to it. :confused3

We wash our towels after every use and we do a load of towels everyday.
