How often do you use the ignore feature?

I haven't used it once.

Its the internet. If I can't handle what some moron types on the computer, then there's something wrong. It's not like I actually have to deal with them face to face.

There's very little that a person could say that would make me use the ignore button. I'm grown up enough to be able to handle reading something I don't like and just ignoring them personally if I don't like them.

I have never seen a reason to use it...sure there are times when I disagree with another poster - but I just let it go....

I used it twice. Thankfully, as far as I can tell both of those posters have been banned. Actually I suspect it was the same poster, under 2 different user names. I really try to avoid putting people on the ignore list. After all, everyone does have a topic that will make the mad and they may not respond how they normally would. But some posters, like the ones I put on ignore are just nasty all the time, totally offensive, and the stuff they say hurts. I try to mostly just skim over the nasty posts, and I haven't read a political thread in awhile which is helping.

Had not looked in there for some time. Wow, I have 9 ID's on the Ignore List. Some of those people I have not seen around here in some time.

I never have until today. That ammonia water & newspaper thread pushed me over the edge!

I nominate Pete's mom for CB's Eternal Optimist of the Year!!!

The two I have on ignore aren't as much nasty as just annoying and tactless.

I second that nomination.

And I don't have anyone on ignore, especially not the nasty, annoying or tactless! They're pure entertainment. :p

I have not used it YET. But then I tend to stick to fluff or prayer posts.

I like Pete's Mom's reply too. :teeth:

Regarding the Ignore feature--I haven't used it in a couple of years. When I did, it wasn't to avoid reading those people's posts. Rather, it was to avoid seeing that they sent me PMs.

You see, I didn't want to get in a back-and-forth exchange with a few people who I knew had taken past PMs of mine, doctored them, and passed them elsewhere to discredit me.

But all that is water under the bridge now, so there's no need for me to use Ignore anymore. :)

To the OP, I have to agree that it's sad there are people here are not so nice and also some who are very dishonest (bet you there are even a few who are both--not so nice and liars, that is). Were it not for those few, we wouldn't really need the Ignore button, would we? ;)

Don't use it - don't feel the need to.. The majority of the people here on the DIS are sincere, caring, helpful individuals.. The few that aren't, I'm able to "ignore" without using the button..::yes::

I think that if you use it you get this invigorating little rush of power! Like, "I'm wiping you off the face of the earth! hahahahahahah!" Like you are banishing them to some terrible place. I never stay mad long, but when someone really ticks me off, I use it to feel like I'm secretly "getting even", and then, like someone else said, I cool off and take them off!!!

:D
