How often do you hear from your guide?

Wow - a whole spectrum of responses -- My Guide returns my calls and answers my questions.

Thats enough for me.

I don't expect anything more than a sales relationship with our Guide. Some will "buddy up" as a sales tool. Some will call. Some will send email. It's the same with car sales people that I have had. They are paid to have a relationship with me. DVD provides several different sales tools to our Guides. They are notified if we are on property. They keep contact history, ratings, and background information on prospective buyers and Members. Some Guides work on property and some work from home. Some in Chicago and some at DL. It's a business and I respect it as such.

We received a call from our guide (Betty Prickyl) about two weeks after we closed congratulating us and welcoming us. I purchased BWV through resale, however I called Disney first to inquire about current sales and I spoke to the same guide. So maybe she felt obligated to call when she saw that we had purchased?

We never heard from our guide again after we purchased. Nor did we expect to. Once we purchased, we felt like his part of the job was over, and the MS CM's took over as far as helping us learn how to "work" the system.

:sad2: We're guide orphans as well!:sad2:

IF there are any guides monitoring this forum.... please take note.
I would love for my DH to purchase more DVC! If we received a "Welcome Home" call or even a sticky note.... my DH would be eating outta your hand!

I'm holding out for Contempory! IF I start skimming from the top of my grocery budget now, you and I could have a great relationship!
:cheer2: :cheer2:

We do hear from our guide- Brandon Duke-SSR. The first time we came home we had a message on our rm phone. We stopped in to say Hi but he was off sick that day. He called the next day to see if we would stop by but we did not get back- left the next day.
We just did an add on and He called us back within 3 hours of our call to answer our questions and then he called agian to see how everything was!!
I call that pretty good service. I would not want him calling all the time though, like someone else said- they are in sales!:thumbsup2

We've heard from him once since we bought. It was more like an "I'm here if you need me" phone call.:thumbsup2

Interesting. Honestly, I read your post very differently. I guess I see the "back door" message as a sign of not bothering you on vacation but letting you know they are available, in the office, if needed.

Also, "sales ploy"....they are salespeople.

I personally would not like to hear from my guide on vacation. Just me. And I never have. He phoned my house before this last trip just to let me know he was on vacation when we were on vacation probably because of all the excitement with members around AKV. And to let me know to speak to any guide if I needed help. I didn't. But nice to know.....

Other than that he always returns questions and calls promptly when I've made them when considering an add-on. If you do add-ons or are thinking about them not returning calls or emails at all would annoy me.

On the other hand.... I do not hear from my guide except the "standard Disney mailings" with his stamp.. BUT, I feel that Disney is "special" in the timeshare business with a good reputation (that's why we bought in isn't it?)
AND we all know that very few (if any) salespeople at Disney put pressure on like I have read of OTHER timeshares, so why not make Disney more special..

1. We have "guides" who put no pressure to buy (it sells itself)
2. We have guides who call us when we are at the timeshare just to say
hello and hope you enjoy your stay.. (I know, underlying is to sell, sell)

How many timeshares do this WITHOUT harrasing you with 4 phone calls during your stay???

In this age of technology with hurry up, it (TO ME) is nice to have someone I bought something from 8 years ago to take the time to call (vmail) and leave a message to have fun and I am hear if you need info on the AKV...

Just my .02 worth.......

Once since 1995 when some OKW points were available. Our guide has changed several times. I think that there is a lot of turnover among guides.

Just back and Michelle did leave a message for us! We were not "in" we were at Epcot, leaving a message for her!

Not anymore. The first few stays at home resort (BWV), we received a message on the rooms phone. But now I just get the standard form stuff in the mail with his name on it... and I specify FORM because the computer automatically puts his name there and my name. Nothing personal about it and everybody else gets the same thing, but different names of course.

Early on it seemed a lot more personal touch. Now it has gotten so big, it's not that way anymore. There was only 15000 members when we joined. How many is there now??????

We've owned for three years and have gone on about 7 trips. Kelly Jo has called and left a message on the room phone every time. Just to wish us a good time and let her know if we need anything. I wouldn't really expect them to call unless I initiated it, but it is a nice touch.
