How often do you go ( to FW )

Christmas '07 was the first of what we hope to be many annual trips (already booked Christmas '08) I just have to get a new GC before the next trip.

1200mi with a 18,000lb 5r is pretty rough on the fuel mileage, we camp in Michigan the rest of the year, usually about once a month.

We were on an every 5 year cycle by going when the kids were 5, 10 and 15. Our summer trip was so much fun, we decided not to wait until they are 20 to go, so going back at Christmas.

If we lived closer...well you know...

Since 2001, I've been going to the Fort once a year tent camping solo. (Hubby doesn't tent camp) We average about 3 trips to WDW a year mostly staying in the hotels. We usually get APs about every other year and on our "on" year we tend to make a few quickie weekend trips cause a good Ding! comes out. I got my new camper this past June, and for the foreseeable future I'll have two Ft. Wilderness trips per year, one with my T@B internet friends in October, and one with my Mousefest, radp, disBoards, Passporter friends in December. I'm sure we'll still have a couple of quickie weekend trips in hotels during our "on" AP years, but we'll be at the Fort 3 weeks a year now.

I've got an awesome job too that I really love. The pay is good, the flexibility is good, and we're an employee-owned company that has shown at least 20% growth every year for the last 10 years. (Can you say cha ching!!! on the employee stock!!!) (Unlike my 401K which I'm scared to even look at anymore, but I've got to remember, looooong term, loooong term.......)

We try to go every couple of months. We live close enough so it is not a problem. However, if they keep hiking the prices, we might have to go less often. We have ressies for Feb, (I am thinking about Memorial Day), June, Oct and Dec. We go up for day trips as well.

We have been once a year since 2001...but with the price of gas and the price of Disney going up I think we are not going to make it in '08, hopefully '09. My daugher is a little....no a lot bummed (so is her dad) but life's still good and so many families only get to go once or not at all....so I can wait awhile.
I love my job also, minister of a United Methodist Church, good people, good outreach, and just plain fulfilling work.

Usually once a year, but we stay for 3 weeks. I am so excited!! Just made our reservations for Feb. 2009. When we finish our Feb 2008 we already have something to look forward too.:goodvibes Patsy

Plus you can always go to other wonderful parks in between trips.

In 2006, we camped near Busch Gardens (Williamsburg, Va) for a three day week-end trip. Then in 2007, we had annual passes to Carowinds and Kings Dominion and did four trips that year. It was great and the boys loved it.

Cedar Fair has recently purchased Carowinds and Kings Dominion. It's supposed to be even better now and I know they have a few wonderful amusement parks in your neighboring Ohio. Quite a bit closer than Orlando.:thumbsup2

We go at least once a year, sometimes twice. In 2007 we were at the Fort for spring break and Thanksgiving week, and we're planning the same for 2008 (ressies made!). We usually stay 7 or 8 nights. We're 1200 miles away - if we were closer I'd want to be there a lot more often.

We try to go once a year in September, but added December plans this year. About 8 hours from Atlanta with food and gas stops.

For the last couple of years we've made it over every 6-8 weeks or so. Only stay 3-4 nights at a time. I just can't stay away from my business any longer than that. Last few months one thing after another has come up and gotten in the way. Next trip is less than 2 weeks away( if all goes as planned).

We try to go at least once a month, most months. We only have season passes, so july and aug we usually go to Crystal River with our boat. But I don't have anything booked now until Oct. I usually am pretty lucky if I keep trying, We usually don't plan ahead, but with the campgrounds that we like, we are learning to plan ahead.

once a year ...usually around feb........

unfortunately coming from Michigan at $3 and change gas.... over $60 a nite with tax .....this tradition will probably becoming to an end.....:sad1:

I'm in the skilled trades also Lonestar.........Its hard for a Michigan "sparky" to make ends meet these days.......I just keep setting the thermostat a little lower.....;)

I completely understand the $$$$$ every thing just keeps going up. We wanted to get a new 5er but the difference in the note is what our trip to FW cost and who knows how high fuel is going to go. Who wants a trailer you cant afford to pull any where. So I agree coming from Texas I dont know how long our yearly trips will last either but we will keep fighting for them. Even with the high cost of fuel our 2 weeks at WDW is still a reasonably priced vacation.

We're going this weekend but not staying at FW. Going to Turkey Lake this trip and using our Universal passes. I'm sure we're gonna end up at Disney and stop by the fort to get my pic on Burl's Porch. DD has 4 days off school so I figured why not go down for a few days.

Stack, We're goin to Universal in May, DebbieT11 pm'd me about Turkey Lake....said it was very nice and comfort stations were well kept...but the wife only settled on tent camping because she felt secure at the Fort. I made the mistake of looping through this horrible campground in MS( I think it was Black Bear Creek) with her once and she had to stop for the bathroom...and it was god awfull. That was her first impression of campground facilities...I have to show her that that was the exception in most cases. So Im thinking we may visit Turkey Lake while staying at the fort, just so she can see that not all CGs are that disgusting, and Disney isnt the only acceptable one.
Hey...could you take a few photos and post them of TurkeyLake for me? I couldnt find much at all when I googled it...I sure would appreciate it.

We go at least 1 or sometimes 2 times a year, always with our popup trailer.
Its a long drive from Toronto,Canada but well worth it.:surfweb:

No problem at all. I love breaking up the trip and staying at Turkey Lake. I've never used the comfort station but we did go in it to see if it was clean and it was. TL doesn't have a 24 hour gate but the gates are locked around 6 and you get a combo to get in and out. The sites are under a nice oak hammock and very shady. Another nice thing is it's really close to Universal and there's lot's of shopping within a mile. Quite a few restaurants around the area as well. It's $15 a night. How long this ride will last I dunno. They have a lot of snowbirds and it's hard to get a spot during the winter months. I may have to move into what they call an overflow Saturday if somebody doesn't cancel. It's a huge grass field right next to the sites. I hate having to move but at least it's going to be cool and I won't need the a/c and we can go back to a site on Sunday.

we try to go three times a year and stay for a week. This year we are going to try and take a few more weekend trips. and our longer trips
