How odd are you? --> Packing

I can't think of anything weird unless you call the dog tags for my DD3 & DS4 shoes (in case they get lost it lists their full names, home address, and phone number and I put a sticker on back w/ resort name and room #) weird.

But my husband is convinced I've lost it now that the kids are completely packed, travel bag is 90% packed and I only need to pack dh & myself...And we're not leaving for another 50+ days :rotfl2:

Where do you get travel size duct tape--we always bring the big stuff.

I'm thinking I got mine at the local Wal-mart. I've also seen it at some hardware store such as Home Depot or something like that ....in different colors other than steel gray. I've seen hot pink, lime (Disney) green and maybe another color or two. They are definitely travel sizes. The roll I got at Wal-mart was about the size of the bottom of a small drinking glass. Much better than lugging that big roll around! :earboy2:

Well this will be our first trip but so far some of the things I plan to take..

My body pilow..have not been able to sleep without that thing since I was pregnant with ds.
my hair dryer and straight iron
my own shampoo and such. (I want to save all the Mickey ones..lol)
all of ds's disney stuffed animals so he can sleep with them.
a notebook with all my tips from all the wonderful people here.. :)
ds's regular stroller AND his umbrella one just in case we get tired of one..lol

Hm... not sure what else yet...

The worst part is we travel by plane so the printer is packed in an extra suitcase!!

I pack hangers, my miracle foam lumbar pillow for my back, and an extension
cord to plug in my ECV in my room.
I want to pack a step stool because the pillowtop beds are so high. :earseek:
DH said NO he will just TOSS me up into the bed.

I am the queen of over packing. I pack 2 suitcases, 1 is a regualr large suitcase and the other is a wardrober, which is a closet that folds! I pack both suitcases to the limit - 70 lbs each. I bring at least 10 pairs of shoes. Dh 5-6 pairs. There are also 2 carry on bags, which holds all my bath and beauty stuff, cosmetics, jewelery box, my DH stuff. I pack Lush bath bombs, my blowdryer, brushes, shampoo, conditioner, 6 bottles of perfume/mens cologne....you name it. And it's just the 2 of us! We dress by mood :rotfl:

Then theres the lap top, we have movies, music etc, camera, erll phones...

I could never ever just pick an outfit per day. And I also have "theme park clothes" They are shorts and tops that I have for WDW/USO. We usually change 3 times per day too. We go back to the room and shower in the afternoon then head back outto the park for a bit. Then we shower and get dressed for dinner. That's a lot of clothes.

so I figured I pack 175 lbs of crap for 5 days...how sad for me

Well I feel much more normal now.

I always bring a first aid kit and lots of foot care stuff.
My ipod even though I never use it when around others (how rude).
Doesn't everyone pack a fan???

But what is really strange is that I have to unpack everything and then repack it all the night before we leave. :confused3 Just to double check I didn't forget anything... and I pack with a check list so the chance of me forgetting anything is pretty darn low...

And no one else may pack anything. They can make a pile on their beds, but I have to put it in the suitcase. Otherwise how could I check those things off my list???

but then I'd need my grinder, and fresh beans, and syrup...

So, now I'm trying to figure out how to pack 14 days worth of bottled Starbucks lattes instead.

Dh thinks I'm nuts, but I'm grumpy without my Starbucks fix every day!

hi
one of those cheap rubber circles for opening jarss - exactly the same as a universal wash basin/bath plug but 1/4 of the price!! also shoe caddy for putting toiletry bits and bobs in keeps them tidy and off the wash basin stand! most importantly instant tea with milk already added just needs hot water from the coffee maker. jeepers i sound a sad case

Pillow, Conditioner (dd12 has curly thick hair, I'd never get it untangled otherwise, I've tried braiding it before bedtime but in the mid of the night she always undoes it)
My strangest thing is Charmin (sorry I hate Disney's bathroom tissue)

This trip I've promised myself not to overpack. I'd rather do laundry while DD12 and DBF swim.

I also pack spare hangers, my hair dryer (I would bring my straighteners but they are a different voltage to the USA), conditioner, first aid kit, ipod x 2 and travel speakers.
As I always buy way more than what I should when I go on holiday I pack my smaller suitcase and put it in my large suitcase. That way I have an empty suitcase for the way back (we are allowed 2 32kg suitcases per person). We always pack an extension chord too so we can charge up several things at once.

You should try getting your daughter a satin or silk pillowcase. It will help with the night tangles. I know it does for me!

I travel with my own coffee maker & supplies. Now that I usually stay at the Dolphin & the mods/deluxes have a coffee maker in-room, I just bring coffee, filters & sweetner/cream. I have been doing that since I had to travel for work back in the early-mid 90's.

I also travel with Scented Travel Candles. I hate the stale smell of a hotel room. Another habit I picked up from work.

I bring a 3 plug splitter so I have enough plugs for cel phone, camera & palm recharging.

I tried the shoe organizer last trip & it worked so well, I'll do that everytime.

I bring at least 4 kinds of perfume. I never know what smell I'll be in the mood for until that day. I always say, It's better to smell good than look good!

I bring a small blow up foot bath to soak my tired, hot footies in. I found it through Avon and once blown up it's dimensions are 8 x 10 x 4. It's perfect for using Johnson's foot soap!!

I try to buy either microfiber shorts with a lining or bathing suits for my dh and 2ds. If I have enough for each day I do not have to deal with extra underwear and if they get wet they dry quickly and no one complains. I have learned to avoid denim at all costs because at some point during the day we usually get wet on something and nothing is more uncomfortable than wet denim. I also pack a swimmers chamois to carry into the parks. Great for drying off, just wring and it is ready to use again and very compact.

LOL! Ok, you have to admit that this is worse than my packing a printer!

My husband thinks I am from another planet whenever I have to pack the family for going anywhere. :rotfl2: My "master list" is over 8 pages long, 3 columns wides, and a 9.5 point font!! And I am always checking to see what I can add to my list!!! Some of the "odd" things I have takesn are...

1. A gallon of homemade salsa. Not my home, I buy it from a local family that sells it in the grocery stores. I am hooked on it, and it is cheaper to buy it by the gallon. I have taken it everywhere in the past 2 years. I took it as a carry on to Disney, driving to NC, soccer tornaments in Erie & Cleveland, visiting relatives, and local tournaments. I always get a strange look when I tell people I am bring salsa. :crazy2: But I have hooked everyone on it. Now everyone in our group buys it.
2. Straws. I carry them everywhere. Sensitive teeth.
3. Morton's Natures Seasoning. I use it on a lot of foods.
4. My first aid kit, rivals some hospitals.
5. Over the door hooks. There never seems to be enough places to hang wet towels.
6. Suction cup hooks. For washrags in the shower.
7. I take a cleaning kit. Shower spray, clorox clean up spray, clorox wipes, lysol spray, etc. We have stayed in some "not so clean places" :scared: , that I have cleaned before we do anything.
8. Glade Press 'n Fresh. I don't hook it on the wall, just leave it in the bathroom. When needed, it is there.
9. Glade plug in nightlight. Nightlight to see our way around at night. Scent to make the room smell nice.
10. Dish detergent. I take it in a small pump bottle, and use it instead of soft soap. Then any dishes that need washed, I am ready.
11. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, etc. 2 kids with eczema, have to be carefull with products.

I can't think :scratchin of anymore to add right now, but these have got to be the strangest.

Ok, my favorite so far has got to be the salsa! :rotfl2:

On driving vacations (which Disney always is for us), I always bring my regular pillow and my "knee pillow" in the car with me (like an earlier poster in this thread, I haven't been able to sleep without a pillow between my knees since I was pregnant with my DD, who is now 17 :rotfl: )

When I'm flying, especially on an overseas flight, I stuff my pillow into my carryon bag, and also my big fuzzy pink slippers, which I change into as soon as the plane is in the air!

We do the laundry detergent thing, too, and hubby has to have his favorite brand of tea bags (Traditional Medicinals).

We always bring our own shampoo and stuff I never thought that was weird. I'm just a slave to the brand I like. I will admit that on our 2003 February trip-- I brought duct tape and plastic. It was right before we invaded Iraq and the homeland security dept said we should have these things on hand in case of a chemical attack. Well, I packed them just in case. I was alittle over the top paranoid that trip.
