How nice are Polynesian-gardenview rooms

OK MagicKingdom5-
If you really want to do to the hilt stay concierge, the food is fantastic!!!!

The wishes music can be heard at the beach? I keep getting different answers on this. If its true, I'd certainly be impressed!

Boy oh Boy what to do. I can't believe 3 weeks ago, I was trying to decided between a value and a moderate. Now I am trying to decided between how many days at CBR and how many days at Poly. Interesting how a little disney magic getting sprinkled on a WDW trip can change everything.

Yes they pipe the Wishes music through the speakers down by the beach. It's a great place to relax and watch the firsworks, just bring the bug spray, when we were there in October there were these little biting gnats everywhere. You can also stay out there to watch the EWP (electric water pagent) that goes around the lagoon to the MK resorts. We have watched it from all of the hotels and it's sort of a tradition for us now.

DisneyFans4,

I wish. Regular Gardenview is about the best I can do, unless I went for only 6 nights instead of 9 and the length isn't changing.

rcraw45425,

I really like the idea of watching the firework and the EWP while sitting at the Polynesian Beach. After it is over I would just have to walk to my room.

DisneyFans4,

Decisions Decisions. Stay at CBR for 4 nights or move one of those nights over to Poly and stay there 6 nights. What shall I ever do  .

The more time you spend at the Poly, the more you will love your vacation! I have stayed there twice and I'm going back in late April for 5 days! Samoa is a great long house for kids (The Pools) and Raratonga is great because you're so close to the GCH. Really, any long house will do because you're at the Poly! Go to Tikiman's web site and check it out for yourself. I must go to his beautiful website 3 times a week, just to dream a little and to look forward to going back! I know that sounds corny but I love the Poly and it just isn't a Disney trip for me without staying at the Polynesian! A true Disney classic! :cool1:

Jason-
Exactly what we did. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening. Sometimes our boys didn't want to go and my DH and I would go off by ourselves and it was so peaceful and romantic.

There's nothing wrong with a GV room and trust me you will love it! I would rather do a GV room at the Poly than a lagoon view at another resort! Call me crazy but that's the way I feel! :rotfl:

MK:

Our first trip we split stayed and while the CBR was nice, we really regretted not spending the entire time at a monorail resort.

At the very least make sure you go from CBR to the Poly. This probably goes without saying, but we had activities planned around the resort location (for instance, we had heard that Chef Mickey's is a great start to a Disney vacation after flying in so we had a PS the night of our arrival - and yes, CM is a great way to start and we always do that now! we also knew we wanted to do MK first, etc.) so we ended up "downgrading" to CBR without really thinking about the psychological consequences. In retrospect, wished we had the deluxe to look forward to instead of missing it. It was a good lesson though b/c now we know the extra cost of the monorail is worth it - at least to us.

Just some friendly advice, although of course you may not put the same value in the location and convenience that we placed with a monorail resort so by all means try the split stay.

Northern Lights,

Someone else told me not to do Poly first. I am starting with either 4 nights at CBR and then 5 at the Polynesian, but I'm thinking of adding one night to Poly and taking one off of CBR. I wish I could do all 9 nights at the Polynesian Resort, but 5 or 6 nights are better than none.

The last poster is definitely right, if your going to split your stay please end at the Poly, you'll see why...we wouldn't steer you wrong.

DisneyFans4,

Don't worry that is the plan and how I have it set up. Good thing they don't charge for changing your AP reservation, because when I add one more night to Poly and take one off CBR, it will be change 5 or 6.

Jason-
So are you all set?
You must dine at O'Hana. The food is fantastic and if your lucky they will seat you near the window and you can watch the fireworks show from there, provided your having a late dinner since the fireworks don't start until 9:00. They even pipe the music in from the fireworks show into the restaurant.

The gardenview rooms at the Polynesian have beautiful views in our experience.

Be sure to try Kona for any meal.

Have a great stay. It is a wonderful resort. We'll be there shortly before you!

BCV23,

Thanks for the advice. I don't know how much time using the monorail will be instead of resort buses, but I guess I will find out.

Oh great, now you got me dreaming of Tonga Toast or one of Kona's great omelets. I wonder if I'm going to make it til April when I go back to the Poly! :earboy2:

disneyfan67,

With all this great information, and after looking at tikiman's site, I have no idea how I am going to make it the next 17 days. I have a second trip planed for May (May 24-May 30), so I hope I don't spoil myself to the point where I have to stay at the Polynesian every time I go :earsboy: . If this happens I am in trouble

I think you're going to be in trouble! ;)

The Polynesian is addicting!

BCV23,

You weren't suppose to tell me this until after I got back ;).

I'm actually thinking about trying conceirge in May if I like the Polynesian resort as much as I believe I will. See I haven't even gone yet, it has been 4 years since my last trip and I'm already talking about getting Polynesian Resort concierge room for my next trip :earseek:.

I think you are right, I am in major trouble ::yes::
