How much would you be willing.....

All I have to say is THANK GOODNESS my DH works for Disney and we get silver passes! Also, with the new ticket system, I think Disney has made it a lot more affordable to go to the parks. Most of my family members bought 7 day park hopper tickets for something like $220 or $230, which works out to a lot less than $60 a day! Disney has it pretty well figured out so that the supply/demand works in their favor (in other words, it's cheap enough so that they keep getting lots and lots of people into the parks).

Assuming that we didn't get the free passes though, I think I'd still pay $100 a day to go to Disney, though we'd have to make our trips a lot less frequent and shorter! When you factor in all the money that you spend on a WDW vacation, the tickets are just one of very many charges!

I agree that the new ticket structure is extremely clever on WDW's part. It benefits their business no matter how you cut it, and people are staying longer because it only costs a few dollars to add a day. We are already thinking we are going to add a day to our tickets when we get there in May since it will only cost us something like $8.00! :thumbsup2

Honestly, I think cost is all relative. When you consider, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, seeing $65 per ticket per day is the same as our seeing $100 per ticket today. I have no doubt that one day, ticket prices will soar upwards of $100-150 per pop. But by then, gas prices will be $10 per gallon, milk will be $8 per gallon, etc. When does it all stop? Who knows?

This is why we go less often and save alot of money.....so that we can afford to stay more days. As someone else said. Once you pass a certain number of days, each additional day is only an extra $2. All you have to be concerned with is hotel and food. I consider the tickets to be one of the cheaper aspects of WDW. It's the only thing that decreses in price the more days you stay.

At what point would you deem it too expensive to go to WDW?
I think you are making the assumption that the other parks and inflation, etc won't keep in step....if for some reason a ticket to WDW is going to cost $200 - it will also cost $200 to go to Seaworld or Universal or Six Flags, or for a ski-lift ticket or a similar cost to rent a beach house.

It used to cost a PENNY for candy, sometimes you would get a bag full for a nickel! People still buy candy, we give out bags and bags at Halloween.

I find it hard to believe what people pay for a pack of cigarettes today, and they smoke a pack or more a day!

It will never be too expensive for me.

I think that prices right now are going up faster than general inflation, so lets talk about the forseeable future. It might be that they will feel the pain in souvenier sales and such before people stop coming alltogether. DBF and I had a great trip this month, but because of how much (compared to a college student's budget) we spent, we barely bought any souveniers. I wonder that if prices continue to rise more people might fall into the "pay for the memory, and take lots of pictures" category, which might make it less profitable for them to raise prices.

I agree. Right now, $100/day seems like a lot. But when it is actually $100/day, the cost of everything else will probably be higher and salaries will increase accordingly.

I mean, I can remember my mother talking about a high school friend of hers who "made good", became a lawyer and bought a $100,000 house. This was probably back in the 70's, when $100,000 was a lot for a house. Well, in 1994, my 'starter" home cost $160,000.

Cost is relative.

I agree with the post above that mentioned the total cost for a family visiting one of the WDW parks at the resort.

HOWEVER, if the admission were too low, no one would be able to enjoy the attractions in the park at all, because of the crowds that would result.

Personally, I think high ticket prices help keep the crowds under control, and a price of $100.00 or so would not be too high methinks. I often visit the WDW resort wondering how the heck they keep prices as low as they do when one considers the upkeep, transportation, landscaping, cast members all over the place, etc.
