MISUSER?? What did you call me?!?!? <<<shake fist>>> It's ON!! pirate:

To get an IP, there's a lot of websites that will give you this info - search: looking up website IP or something like that.

I cant give you the one we use, cuz it's for the top-secret-tech-people (like myself) :crazy2:

That's one of the stupidest policies I've heard in a long time! What if you needed, for work, to look up a phone number on the yellow pages on the internet? Or, how about if you needed to book a hotel for a business trip?

Now, I can understand monitoring computer use and curtailing internet access for misusers. But, there's a lot of valuable information on the net that you could be using for legitimate reasons.

I know! Ridiculous. I have to submit a list of .com addresses that I have a legitimate reason to visit. Fine, I can do that for some sites that I visit regularly. But I do a lot of research FOR WORK (aside from vacation research, which I do at lunchtime & at home LOL). Am I supposed to Google something, the submit the 25,347,904 possible websites so they can decide? I can see them blocking hotmail, yahoo, ebay, banks, obvious entertainment/personal stuff like that, but everything? Ridiculous. Did I say that already?

Of course, this is a government agency, what can you expect from the morons who make decisions? :lmao:

I'm not sure I'd give the IP address strategy a try, because I know they do monitor sites that are visited, and I'm sure that would raise a red flag and they might come confiscate my computer with me still grabbing on to the mouse.

They tried something similar a year or so ago and had to suspend it after a few days because nobody could get anything done.

Yeah, I don't think such a policy would last long.

What do you mean how much work do I not do because of the Dis? I dont Dis at work. :rolleyes1 Well, I guess thats true only if the boss is asking. But it would depend on the day on how much work I get done. Yesterday was a slow day so I spent a lot of time (close to half my day) on the Dis. Today I spent just a bit. I do find myself spending more and more time on the Dis than I plan to each day. I hear that line from the Godfather running through my head each time I check back on the boards "Just when I think I am out, they pull me back in." Yep, Im comparing the Dis to the mafia.

We just got an email from the network admins at work that beginning on Friday, we will only be able to access .gov, .edu and .org domains!!!! I don't DIS during work hours, but what am I going to do at lunchtime?? I spend my lunch hour surfing along :surfweb: . What oh what am I supposed to do now? :confused3 Maybe I should change jobs too :lmao:

E-mail the mods and tell them to change this to an org or edu website. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will admit...that last Saturday I spend all day DIS'ing. Saturdays are SOOOO slow and I am on the only one working that day!

I work out of doors so no DIS from work for me, but then I work about 5-10 hours a week.

You should see my house. I have been DIS addicted for weeks. I really think if I booked our next trip I might be able to stop, or, um, slow down a bit.

An anonymous proxy server would both let you get around a DNS and any logging of where you have been :teeth: Try here for one.. plus information on how, why, and what they are. :cool2:
