Hiya

There will be four travelling (3 adults, 1 child (14))

We've got our theme park tickets already, inc Discovery Cove.

Just needed a few pointers on how much money to take, I've been before but on my own with mates.

I realise the more you take the better time you have.

Would really appreciate any comments.

How long are you staying for? Are you on or offsite?

How long is a piece of string....... :rolleyes1

Seriously though it all depends on what you plan to do on the holiday.

Decide upon a budget for your daily meals, add in some spendo for the souveniers, shopping trips, nights out etc and it should give you a rough idea of the amount of $$$ you will need - back this up with a credit card for those 'must have' purchases and you will be ok.

We always budget about $60 per person per day for food and that does us with plenty left over, if you look on allearsnet you can look at recent menu prices and maybe budget for one person choosing what you want and then times it by 14.

That's such a difficult question.

When I went in 2002 we took $1500 and that was enough for 2 adults and 2 children for food and some souvineers for a fortnight. We had pre-purchased our park tickets. We were on a pretty tight budget that trip but had an excellent time.

Trips since I have probably spent twice that for the same people going but the trips were a week longer and we ate onsite a lot which bumps up the price considerably.

I would have a look at some of the chain restaurants' menus to get an idea of price. Such as Denny's, Chilli's, Shoney's, Sizzler, Ponderosa etc.

We stayed onsite in 2003 and spent £2500 (family of 5) so think that £2000 should be plenty! We bought our tickets before we went and did buy quite a few souveniers. I also gave my kids a set amount of money (we changed it into dollars and gave it to them before we went) and that was to do them for the whole holiday! That worked really well and we didn't get wingeing (well not much!) about them wanting this and that all the time!

$60 a day for food sounds reasonable going on last years prices but you would then have to add on about another $10 to cover tips 10-15%.I wouldn't include alcohol in that (we normally don't drink at night as we are that goosed!!).Again it depends what you want to do,I always stock up on sports gear when we're across so for 2 weeks would expect to take about £2000 & not expect to worry about not having enough.
