After reading this, I guess it's not so outrageous. I do keep her occupied, we color, go shopping, play games, bake, etc. I don't just plop her in front of Spongebob. We usually have that running in the background though.
I was approached by a friend's husband who works with a lady looking for full-time childcare for an infant. I am clueless on what to charge for that. I remember being a new mom and needing to work but finding affordable childcare is hard to come by. I did hear from her, she wants to wait a bit, her mom will watch for a few months. I totally understand that, nothing like special grandma time for baby and hopefully affordable childcare for her.
When my boys were little, I used to pay the minimum wage (rounded to the next dollar) and an additional $2 per child. We always rounded up at the end of the night. Good friends always told us to pay a babysitter well, if you do that they will be more than happy to sit for you. So far we've been blessed when we needed sitters, thankfully my boys are old enough to be on their own now.
