How much time to allow to get to airport when using the Magic Express?

Hello! Our family will be making our first visit to WDW in a month. Yippee! We have reservations for the Chef Mickey's Character Breakfast at 7:20 a.m. on day we leave. Our flight departs at 11:30 a.m. We are planning on using the Magic Express. Are we being too ambitious? Definitely need your advice! Thanks!:confused3

Also, if we are staying at POR can we catch the ME from the Contemporary? I think that's where Chef Mickey's is located...

DME will pick you up at your resort (POR) about 3 hours before your flight (8:30a). Obviously the numbers don't work.

You could book a car service to take you from the Contemporary to the airport. You could arrange a pickup somewhere between 9 and 9:30. That would work. Use RAC to check your luggage before you leave POR.

You have to decide if you want to pay around $60 and keep your breakfast.

ME will pick you up about 3 hours before your flight time, you may ask for an earlier pick up but not a later one(well you can ask but they won't give it). So your ME bus will LEAVE POR at about 8:30. You need to be at the DME stop ready to board(all bags checked or with you) about 15min before the departure time given you the night before. ME will only pick you up at the resort you were registered at. So, no your breakfast plan won't work if you want to use ME. You could look into a town car service, they usually pick up 2 1/2 hours before flight and would pick up at CR, but you would still be rushed.

You can only catch DME from your own resort so no you can't catch it from the Contemporary.

If your flight leaves at 11:30 then you'll be on a DME bus around 8:30am (possibly 15 minutes earlier) and you're expected to be at the bus stop 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time which means you have to be prepared for the possibility of needing to be at the bus stop by 8:00. It will be impossible to eat and return to POR in 40 minutes. Just the transportation alone can take that long if you're using Disney transportation. Even a taxi back to POR wouldn't allow you any time to actually eat.

I would strongly suggest that you cancel the ADR and enjoy a quiet plate of Mickey waffles from the food court before heading to the DME bus stop.

Don't forget that if you're checking your bags with RAC then you'll want to have that finished BEFORE the 15 minute mark prior to getting to the bus stop. I'd check the bags before getting breakfast.

and always plan for a line when using RAC.

I've been "lurking" on these boards for sometime now and have found all the information very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to answer our question. I kind of thought trying to fit that breakfast in might be pushing it. I will definitely cancel.

Thank you!

Or skip breakfast at Disney altogether and eat at the airport, inside security at the little rotunda food court between the gate corridors.

If you leave your resort, then shoot to be back an hour before your DME bus when using Disney buses. Should you see your aim getting way off, grab a cab back to your resort.
