How Much Time do you really spend in the Room

Ignoring the 8 hours we spend sleeping... We spend 8 hours in the parks daily.... And 8 hours daily in room, pool, or wandering resort. So, ignoring sleep... About 50% of our time is spent at resort!

I very much appreciate all of your input! I never expected such an excellent response!! I hope to hear more as well!!

So far I think I should rent at least one more time, maybe twice so that I can tour some more resorts and get a better feel. I'm looking for my next trip, but with my new job I'm not sure when I'll get time off... but I definitely want to head back. Last time my reservation was quite amazing and renting was so smooth and enjoyable!!

Also, there seems to be a fair mix of those who still go to the parks heavily and those who relax more. I would like to see how relaxing WDW can be, as I have always been rushing during vacations to see everything!

Once the "honeymoon" is over and you have seen and done all of the parks a few times, you pick your favorite rides and attractions and skip the rest. That creates more time for the resort, other things, and family.

I read in another thread about disappointing maintenance with the dvc rooms, does this affect your enjoyment of the rooms? From the posts here it sounds like those you spend time in the rooms enjoy it a lot, have you guys noticed significant declines in the quality of the rooms?

Yes, and Disney could do a better job if they really wanted to. We vacation at WDW more than many owners, with a total of about 25 DVC resort stays so far so we are exposed to more possible problems.

We make sure that management gets the major items fixed or have them move us to a different room. We don't mind the minor wear issues but defective appliances, water leaks and drain problems and HVAC issues we don't put up with.

I'll let you know. I requested a special cleaning for my studio( non chemical cleaning) so we will see.

From what I've taken from this, is the piece of advice I've heard time and time again... Buy where to you love to stay. :cool1:

That being said, I'm very much looking forward to more relaxing vacations. Maybe having non park days to just relax, enjoy the resorts and watch the fireworks.

Hopefully things with work go smoothly, and with minimal expenses, and conscious money managing including living within my means, I'll be able to buy in soon. I am very much interested in renting at BLT and maybe BWV or BCV and see what it's like to be on the monorail and what its like to be within walking distance of Epcot and DHS.

If the DVC Poly is indeed happening, I would honestly consider buying in there. I love the Polynesian, the beach, the feel of the resort, and the convenience of the monorail. Then again if we find a resort we really like before the poly, the resale price may be a lot more attractive than being at the poly! :P We shall see!

All in all, I cannot wait to be able to have the points to be able to go EY or EOY and have relaxing trips to de stress and enjoy things even more than before!

I really appreciate everyone's advice and words of wisdom! :D :cool1:

What we did is buy VGF and VWL for our MK area vacations and we bought BWV for our Epcot/DHS vacations. We rotate each year and bank the resort points that we don't use. This allows us to buy half as many points, have a home resort advantage at our favorite resorts and we are close to our favorite parks.

Just checked in to AKV value studio at Jambo House. Requested a non chemical cleaning and everything was great at check in. Even got into the room at 12:30p!

we just bought another 100 points so we'd have MORE time to relax at the resorts.

Quick update.... this upcoming Jan we have booked a split stay including AKV jambo savannah view and BWV... excited to try two more resorts out to help us decide where we truly like most :) :)
