How much should we pay our petsitter?

We are having the 16 y.o. boy next door (who's very responsible) petsit our dog during our Disney vacation. How much would be fair to pay him per day? We'll need him August 24 through September 1st. I'm assuming he'll come over a few times a day and let him out and play with him a bit/take him for a walk (we've never done this before but I guess that's what he would do).

We pay our petsitter $20.00 a day which is cheap for our area. Professional petsitters run anywhere from $30.00 to $50.00 a day in the St. Louis area.

Our next door neighbor(high school sophmore) who watches our pets when we are away gets $30per day for short trips or $150 per week. We have 2 cats and a fish.

We live in Ohio, but we pay $10/visit to the college kid in the neighborhood. She comes over and lets the dogs out in the fenced yard and then stays and plays with them for like a half hour, too. It's still WAY cheaper than boarding two dogs at the boarders (That cost us over $500/week last trip!!!! Almost as much as OUR hotel! ) and they are much less stressed!

Make sure this is clear to him. That's more than a lot of pet sitters do. I would pay $5-$10 per visit.

I am in Ohio and pay around $150 - 200 for the week, depends on how much I have them mess with the cats or meds that need given. My dog sitter also lives at my house while we are gone; takes care of 3 dogs and 3 cats.

we were gone for 10 nights and paid $150 to our dog sitter. She is a high school girl who lives down the street. She takes our dog on long walks, will take her to her house just to hang out, arranges play dates with another golden retriever down the street. Boarding is around $20 a night so we are getting a bargain.
