How much should I budget for tipping?

i can't imagine eating 3 large meals like that per day. It seems like it would take up so much time. Plus, granted, i eat 3 meals a day at home but they're not that big. you know, bowl of cereal for breakfast, banana for a snack, salad for lunch, something for a snack and dinner. I just really can't imagine having 3 sit-down meals like that. Plus, it's hard to imagine having to come up with that much extra money for the tip-that's unbelievable. At least with the regular ddp, you eat 1/2 counter service therefore not having to leave a tip (right? :) ) So it more like ends up being maybe 1 meal a day that's $100-200, so a tip per day of between $15 (15% of $100)-40 (20% of $200)-totally affordable.

Not having the tip included must be putting an end to a lot of people doing the deluxe ddp.

See, that's what I am thinking--the plan is only as good as what you really want to do. I really would not wnat to take six hours out of my day to eat, I can most definately feed my family of four less expensively than $70 per day, I don't want to force foods on them and I don't want to limit foods either--like on regular DDP you get dessert, so no appetizers, etc. We have DVC so a breakfast of fruit, cereal and milk will pretty much do it for us. A CS in the park if we are staying in the park all day or something quick in the room if we head back to swim OR a TS for lunch to get out of the heat and rehydrate then back to the parks and a quick CS for dinner splitting and sharing. We really don't get that many snacks--two per day on DXDDP plus all that other food OMG:scared1: Anyway it really is more of a personal thing that needs to be figured, and knowing my husband and son we would be spending 2 weeks eating ourselves ill if I did DXDDP and I would be in the poorhouse from all the things they tried after paying tips!:rolleyes1

I was concidering the regular DP but Dh LOVES appitizers and can eat 3 large meals a day easy! I would much rather not have to worry about paying a large amount for food and just worry about tips.

Thank you all so much. I am starting looking at menus and working on my first draft of a dining plan. Boy if I told Dh that I was already picking out restaurants he wouldn't stop laughing until we GOT to Disney world!

Then your DH really would laugh at me. I had 4 drafts of our ADR's to cover going over Christmas or going earlier in December, and for it being an 8 or 10 day trip. We have 312 days before we go. I'm sure my ADR calendar will change again when the dates for MVMCP and the Candlelight Processional come out. I tried to go over it with my DH the night before last, and he just got the deer in the headlights look.

Some character dining experiences and dinner shows that call for 2 TS credits have gratuities included; at least CRT does.
I've heard you can have your gratuities charged back to your room, and pay on checkout as well. I'm sure it will accumulate quickly for some folks.
But still, if you use every credit, and order the higher end items at each restaurant, you'll still probably come out ahead.
