How much planning for a long trip?

We have been to WDW numerous times but never for more than 7 days. We have done extensive planning for these trips including the usual PS, which parks which days, etc. In '06 or '07 we are planning a long trip (10-14 days) but it will probably be right after school gets out (late May/early June). My question is for those that have spent 10+ days, do you do a lot of planning? I know PS are necessary but how much do you worry about touring plans for parks, etc. It seems like 10+ days (staying on-site) would allow plenty of time to tour the theme parks extensively plus go to a water park or two. Thoughts?

With a stay of 10 day's or more you can see much and do much and not feel rushed. On a stay of this length is a great time to do some behind the scene tour's that Disney has to offer, work in some fishing, horseback riding, golf or mini golf. You could spend a day at DTD go to club's at Pleasure Island, catch a performance by B.B.King or other blue's headline artist at House of Blue's.My point being WDW has so much to offer and I have just touched on a few things in this post. The better the plan you have with time you have is going to increase your opportunity to experience the most of what Disney has to offer with the least amount of stress. This is my opinion I hope others will give you some feedback.::yes:: :wave2:

and possibly Star Wars Weekends; so, if you want to be involved with those activities then you will have to do some planning. There are special garden tours and talks that are available, as an example.

When we go for longer trips we extend our visits to SeaWorld, Universal, etc.; so, if you do other parks planning may be a good idea. Also, we will do the more unusual activities at Disney like afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian, a boat rental, golfing, swimming, etc. Water parks become a good option and miniature golf, too. You can spend more time at Downtown Disney and enjoy Pleasure Island, House of Blues or Cirque du Soleil, as an example. We have done all the park tours except for the Segway tour at Epcot. It's a great time to learn more about the parks when you have extra time.

We like staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge on long stays. There are free tours at Animal Kingdom Lodge that we will do, such as, a tour of the art there. There are special safaris available for concierge guests, one in the park and one at the resort that we will do but those have hefty price tags on them.

I always go crazy with pictures and video during long trips because you'll be able to see numerous fireworks shows and parades. I may ride an attraction six times to get pictures from every angle. It just depends how intense you want to get with it all.

I still like to have a plan for the parks to make sure I see what I like the most with shows and attractions and I try to get that done first then I will go at it more leisurely with the rest.

You should definitely consider AP tickets if you don't already have them for longer stays. This should get you a good resort discount. Use it for meal discounts where you can for the 10% discount.

We almost always take longer trips, now because you can do so much more and not feel rushed about any of it. If you want to just relax you have that option, too. I really concentrate on the details at the parks like reading the windows at MK main street or looking for hidden mickeys.
