How much per day do you tip Mousekeeping?

We generally do between $3 and $5 per day, depending on the mess we make.

We tip a dollar a day per person . That's $4.00 a day for my family.

We usually tip $5 a day, there are four of us. We do it every day instead of waiting at the end of the trip. Just in case we have more than one different mousekepping person.

I guess we tip light because we don't leave much of a mess. My wife can't stand to be in a messy room so she cleans it herself everyday.

Oh good... I was feeling cheap. I usually leave $20 for the week too. There are 4 of us but I don't think we are particularly messy.

I guess we tip light because we don't leave much of a mess. My wife can't stand to be in a messy room so she cleans it herself everyday.

Ha ha ha!!! I do the same thing! Staighten the beds, clear trash, put clothes away, etc.... DH thinks I'm nuts!

Funny, I always thought $5 bucks was pretty "middle of the road". If the room's a disaster, which is hardly ever the case, we'll drop a $10 spot, but we typically won't go any higher than that.

I know these gratuities are not required, or in most cases even expected, but it's something we like to do...

Seriously, you are better off leaving tips DAILY, not once a week. The maid we had at POR FQ was wonderful! Towel animals (not that they were expected, but a lovely surprise), refilled the coffee, room was clean and vacuumed, etc. The fourth or fifth day we came back and the room was a mess...the beds were half made (she didn't even put the pillows or bedspreads on the bed), towels and washcloths were in a pile IN the sink, the 1/2 pizza we had gotten the night before from the food court that was saved to be our midnight snack had been removed from the fridge and was on the dresser. God only knows why she left it out, she hadn't taken anything else out of the fridge. So we had to throw it out.

Our last day we met our maid when we were getting ready to go. She came to the room to tell me how much she loved the envelopes her tips were in...and we told her how much we appreciated how she kept the room, and that one day she must have been gone because we had appalling service...yep, it was her day off and a sub had done the room. If I had left the whole tip for the week on the day that sub did the room, our maid, who was marvelous, would have gotten nothing. I always leave tips daily to make sure the maid who actually takes care of the room gets the tip.

Nope. You can tip the maids and it is appreciated. They do not make a lot of money and have some of the hardest jobs in the World. We leave tips for the maids no matter where we stay, not just Disney.

I think that no tipping thing does apply to bus drivers though (on buses within the resort, not the ME drivers, they have signs in the buses saying "gratuities accepted for exceptional service", but they are employed by Mears.) Someone will correct me if I am wrong though.

Agreed. Staying at a resort is not like being on a cruise, where the same staff takes care of your needs for the duration of the trip.

For the record, we also had a housekeeper run down the hall to meet us one day when we were heading back to the parks after our afternoon nap to thank us for leaving the extra gratuity and to tell us how much it meant to her. Obviously, it doesn't happen very often...
