If your kids use the school bus in your area, how much, if anything, do you guys give the bus driver? I was thinking a $15 gift certificate from the local coffee place, or maybe Target....is that ok, or too little?

Any help would be appreciated! :earsboy:

I think that sounds just right. Depending of male or female would depend on the gift card. Lowes or Home Depot would be better for male IMHO.

I do $10 for each (different am/pm) I usually get Dunkin Doughnuts or Target. I try to notice where the busses like to gather for their morning coffee or a place within the school district, or who doesn't love Target!!! :cool1:

I got our bus driver a $10 gift certificate to Blockbuster.

My children only us the bus to come home in the afternoon. Our bus driver is the BEST! He is older and with the excception of Walmart, I doubt that he would use a gift card.

Last year I put $20 cash into a card. My DD made the card. Of course I gave him a tin of treats to go with it.

He is always so appreciative. According to my children, we are the only ones who give him anything.

Sidenote: When I was a child and rode the bus, each Christmas my mom would wait at the bus stop to give our bus driver a gift. It was always a bottle of wine. (We went to Catholic school).
Can you imagine in todays world giving alcohol to a school bus driver?

Wow, I never thought to give the bus driver a gift! :confused3 Do most people and what ages are your kids? Mine are in middle school. (they never rode the bus in elementary school) I will have to ask some of the parents, but so far no one has mentioned it and I think they would have by now since we do chat about everything else under the sun! :rolleyes1

In a previous thread, someone mentioned the "favors" from coffeeink. I ordered one from my son for the bus driver with a personalized message on it. I'm going to put it in a bus mug and wrap it up in tranparent celophane with a nice bow. Inexpensive, nice and personal!

We used to give something in the $5-$8 range, not this year though, cutting back where we can.

I usually go about $20(2 kids on the bus) And I give a gift card to Target because I always see her in there. lol

I should add that the last couple of years I have had 4 children on the bus....so $20 = $5/child.
Our busdriver takes great care to get our children home safely.

Now for middle school, not sure if I would do that or not.....middle schoolers are moody that way....heaven forbid we embarrass them.

This thread has given me a lot of ideas. My DD's bus driver is great. Even one time my DD left her sweatshirt on the bus and she brought it back when she was finished with her run.

Our bus driver this year is fantastic & personable. And he loves Disney!! I am wracking my brains what to give him.

My DW is a school bus driver (has been for over 25 years! :earseek: )and she appreciates all the gifts given to her. I think her favorites are the gift certificates for anywhere, I personally like the homemade candy she gets! :teeth:

My DD is 7, and most of you guys are correct. Getting the kids to and from school safely is very important. I know most (I think) of the kids on my daughters bus do give small gifts or gift cards. I am going with the $15 Target gift card for her female driver.

Thanks! :earsboy:

My DH teaches school and supplements his income by driving a bus too. He'd probably pass out if he got a $20 gift at school OR on the bus! :rotfl:

Honestly, if money matters at all (I know that things start to add up at our house), a $10 gift certificate or something in that price range would be nice. Most of the gifts that DH gets are around $5.

DD & I just made a coffee mug from construction paper and were going to put a packet of hot chocolate in it. We also have a sticker on the front that states "Have a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day".

Money is getting tight since everyone wants donations & exchanges. I have donations for toys for tots, girl scout gift exhange, girl scout party, girl scout needy family they adopted, school gift exchange, school party, DH & I's work parties, bosses, etc...

I'm doing the mug idea for the bus driver, teachers and girl scout leader. Just a little gift to say "thanks" and they can throw away when their done...

My 4 year old has a bus driver and an assistant on the bus every day. I was going to give each of them a bag of Dale and Thomas popcorn (the $3 ones I got from the website), as well as some homebaked cookies. Is this enough? Money is tight here, too.

We are giving a $10 Blockbuster gift card and some candy...I don't think our bus driver gets a lot of gifts.

Oh Deb where are you? What were your favorite gifts?

For myself I spend around 3-5 on sale but worth more.
