How much more intense than Expedition Everest is Rock n' Roller Coaster?

I rode EE & RNR for the first time last trip. I did not enjoy EE, felt sick afterward for a bit and am in no rush to go again. I loved RNR and went again single rider right after. The music and atmosphere makes it fun instead of scary. I don't even remember it going upside down. I just remember fun.

I enjoy all of the coasters at Disney (EE is probably my favorite!) and I don't usually get "scared" or have motion sickness on any of them, but the one thing that gets my adrenaline rushing and my nerves going is the RNRC launch. It's definitely intense, but once it's over, the rest of the ride is awesome with all of the glow in the dark landmarks and the Aerosmith soundtrack blaring in your ears. :rockband:

I usually get through the launch by counting down with Steven Tyler and joining him in his trademark scream as the launch occurs. It helps distract me. Lol.

I am also a coaster wimp, and I've been on all the coasters at DL and WDW.

In my opinion the biggest difference between EE and RnR is the inversion on RnR. If your stomach gets upset going upside-down, stay off RnR. I can handle anything that doesn't go upside-down, I love the falls, but RnR made me nauseous for hours after I rode.

Like the other people have said, the only thing scary about it is the launch, the rest of the ride is smooth and quick, you don't feel the loops at all. You'll love it!!

Exactly! I laugh the entire time I ride RnR :D

As long as the launch doesn't bother you, the rest of the ride is a breeze.

My problem is with the launch. I just can't get over it.

I like both, but I prefer RnR just because as stated previously, it is a smoother ride. I find going backwards on EE the first time is more intense due to the rattling around. That's my two cents!

RNRC is 90 seconds long. The coaster height is 80 feet. The length is 3,403 feet, with a top speed of 57mph. The launch is 0-57mph in 2.8 seconds.

EE is just under 3 minutes (2:50). EE's top speed is 50mph, with a height of 112feet, length of 4,424 feet.

Of the two, I find EE more intense. I think part of the intensity comes from the two internal rides pauses, you have time to think about what is coming. RNRC doesn't have any pauses.

It is important to keep your head back against the pad during the launch. As stated above, it only lasts about 3 seconds. The ride is over very quickly, IMO. If RNRC has anything roughly equal to the EE pauses, it is the last part of the queue- when you hear others launching, just like WDW showcases the big Splash drop before you go on it.

Statistics tell an interesting story. The top speeds of both coasters are pretty similar.

RnRR was my favorite Disney roller coaster until I rode EE. It's funny, and I know I'm completely wrong here, but the steep helix on EE feels more like an inversion than the actual inversion on RnRR.

On RNR, that launch is pretty intense and before you know it, you've already gone upside down, and everyone is just laughing and rocking out to the music.

The anticipation of the ride creates all sorts of excitement and nerves for first time riders. But in reality, I think you'll find that it was a whole lot of fun. It's a very smooth ride and enormously entertaining. I enjoy it much more than WDW's Space Mountain.

I think EE is more intense than RnRR as well. The launch is fast, but remember that the fastest ride at WDW is Test Track at 65 mph. RnRR is 60 mph, though it reaches that speed very quickly.

I'm a wimp, but our last trip I promised I would ride with my daughter since my husband didn't come with us. (He's her usual ride buddy). RnR really wasn't that bad in the grand scheme of things. Dark, so you couldn't really tell what was happening, really smooth, and great music. It's been a couple of years since I've been on test track, but I thought the launch was similar to that. If that doesn't bother you, try it. If I had to pick RnR or Everest, I'd take RnR.

RnRR for the most part is a fast, but butter smooth ride, and you have a full over the shoulder restraint on you making sure you basically don't budge in the seat.

The stretch of Everest going down the hill backwards and into a sharp turn at high speedon the other hand makes for some interesting g forces and sensastions. (and you only get a lap bar on that ride, so far less restraint).

So, I think Everest is a little more rough- keep in mind though- both are relatively tame in terms of roller coasters in general when compared to most modern amusement parks.

Can anyone who has ridden both RNR and California Screamin' weigh in on a comparison of the two?

After multiple trips to DCA, my daughter worked up the courage to ride CS for the first time and it turned out that she absolutely loved it. If the ride experience is comparable on RNR, she may be willing to add it to the "to do" list on our next trip to WDW.

As an aside, she has been riding EE for years, and loves it - it was the quick take-off and loop on Screamin' that she needed to work up the courage to face.

The main differences with RNRC are the darkness, the loud music, and the corkscrews. If she loves Screamin' she can probably at least tolerate RNRC, in my opinion.

Screamin' was my favorite ride at DLR, but I'm a coaster nut.

I'm a bit of a weenie about roller coasters and I have a mild fear of heights. Prior to my first WDW trip in 2015, I decided I definitely wouldn't ride ToT and probably wouldn't ride RnR. I ended up doing both, and while I'm not crazy about ToT, RnR is tied with BTMRR as my favorite WDW ride. I didn't get a chance to ride EE until my trip earlier this year, but after reading a lot of opinions about it here on these forums, I expected it to be one of WDW's more thrilling rides. When I got off of it the first time, I was really underwhelmed. After the second time, I was actually bored. RnR is quite a bit more intense than EE, but not being able to see what's ahead makes it more exciting than scary. It's a fast ride (both in terms of speed and length) that's fun from start to finish. Definitely give it a chance!

If you do decide to try it out, make sure you keep your head all the way back!

To me and I'm a grandma Everest and Space are more intense then RNRC. RNRC is my favorite ride, I love it ! The launch is the best part.

Funny. I found RNR boring the one time I was on it. It's over too quickly, and the darkness made it impossible to appreciate the movement. I'm one of those who didn't realize it had inversions. The difference between it and Space Mountain is that at least in Space Mountain, the lift gives you a sense of height, and the sudden direction changes make it more intense. I'm not into hard rock, so the music didn't add anything.

I haven't been on EE yet, but we shall see.

CA Screamin is much more dramatic. The countdown before the launch (Neil Patrick Harris voice btw) "in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...." it's very dramatic and has you on edge at the start. I actually love the thrill of the start but I don't love going upside down, so I only go on Screamin if I am with someone else who really wants to go. On the other hand, we were all joking, hooting and hollering at the start of RNR, it is more like a party. Maybe I just had a great crowd? And as I said before, I didn't really notice going upside down so that part didn't bother me.
