How much luggage can you fit in mid size car?

We have rented a mid-size car from Alamo for 4 people. Just wondering how much luggage can fit in the trunk - we have two 26" rolling suitcases, 2 large duffles, a couple of carry ons. Seems like a lot. We have a van so everything fits in there but I'm wondering how it will do in a mid size car...

Any advice would be appreciated....

We rented a midsize from National last year. It was a Mit. Galant. Held our 2 26'" rolling cases, but not much else. You might be able to squeeze a duffle in there, if they're not too thick.

They consider a Galant a full size, can you believe? I was stunned by that one.

To answer the OP's question, look on the website, they give you a basic idea of what will fit in each class of car. I do think, however, you are in for a bit of a tight squeeze here.

We rented a mid-size and ended up with a convertible. thank goodness for that. There were 4 of us (me and DH, and 16 and 17). Had to pile the bags in the back with the kids and had to put the top down to get them in (the bags, not the kids). Last year we rented a minivan and there were 4 adults and 1 child. With a suitcase and carryon each, we barely got the luggage in the minivan. Had to put the middle seat down and pile them on top of that. Think we only got 2 in the very back of the minivan. We had a Stratus (Intermediate size at Dollar) a few weeks back and were able to fit 2-26", 2-19" and a medium size duffle in the trunk. ~~

We also had a Stratus (from National) and fit 2 26' rolling suitcases, one carry-on size rolling suitcase, a backpack and a laptop all fit in the trunk with a little room to spare....maybe for another backpack or laptop

We just had a compact Ford Focus from Budget, and fit 2 26" pullmans, plus a 26" rolling duffel, plus a few assorted totes/small backpacks, and groceries into the trunk of that--it was HUGE!
