How much is laundry?

I'm updating the FAQ at my web site, but I don't remember how much it costs to use the washer and dryer. And how much is soap? Do they have a change machine in the laundry rooms now or do you still have to get change at Guest Services?

TIA!

I think it was $1.00 to wash or dry. There was a change machine in the 2 upstairs laundry rooms (haven't been to the one on 2 ). Don't know about the soap price though. We bring our own soap from home pre-measured in ziploc bags and dryer sheets in another. Former girl scout here, I always come prepared. They would probably run out of soap just when I was desparate to wash some stain.

Someone else let me know if these prices are wrong.

I didn't see a change machine in the laundry room but they have them in the pictures on Barb's site so they must have been there. :) I brought my own soap but I think it cost $1.25 to buy it, not sure.

I think the $1 to wash and dry is right.

Can you tell I only did laundry ONCE on the ship? :p Honestly, it was a royal pain the day I did it, people were CUTTHROAT with the washers and dryers and I had to go the two different decks to find availability. I'm sure it's better if you go on a port day but sea days are killer in the laundry.

Dave,
they definately have a change machine in the one on deck 7. And it is almost guaranteed that the dryer will take 2 cycles.

Michelle, you are right about being CUTTHROAT!!! When my clothes hadn't dried in one cycle and I had to put another dollar in the machine ~ one lady threw a hissy fit like it was my fault!

I was very disappointed in the laundry room and will try to pack next time so I don't have to use it. It is bad enough that there is only 3 laundry rooms they really need to try and keep all the machines working.

The machines only take quarters. Here's something else I discovered that may save someone a few steps. You can put more than one cycle worth of money in the dryer. i.e. you could put $2.00 for a load and it would dry for 80 min.

There is also a machine that dispenses bleach, fabric softener, and the ubiquitous Tide detergent. A small box, good for one load, is $1.00...

Yep Jon, I agree, I will NEVER do laundry on the ship again. I only did it this time as we had a long trip, 4 days at WDW after the cruise. People were just plain nasty. And you're right about the dryer, one of the NICE ladies in the room told me that too. :)

The Disney Magic Laudry rooms are all about a system, that is for sure. I was lucky and had someone tell me the ins' and outs' of the machines.......

The washer is $1.00 as is the dryers, and depending on the cycle you choose on the dryers and what floor you are on is the time you get for your money. On the 7th floor room you get more time than the 6th floor, why it is beyond me. Also if you want more time - you just add one quarter at a time - push the cycle button and it will add the minutes, you do not need to add another dollar is quarters.

I brough my own detergent, but seem to remember that it was .75 and there are change machines there. The washer and dryer do not take bills.

Also, the room on the 7th deck has an iron and ironing board.

I would suggest that when you have items in the dryer that you are there when they are supposed to be done, because I witnessed so many just empting the machines and tossing their items in and leaving - it really was terrible.

All in all it sure beats packing dirty underwear, socks and bathing suits!!!

Have a "MAGICal" Cruise!!!!

I went to do a little wash and the place was a nighmare. I didn't get to even start before I got so irritated that all the machines were full of already washed and wet laundry and already dried but left behind laundry. I took all my dirty things home and just dumped the suitcase into the machine there. I'll never try that again. If I need something washed, I'll send it away with the room steward to parts of the ship unknown to be redelivered the next day.

Just got back from the 1/4 Magic cruise and this is what I experienced as far as laundry rooms. We were staying on Deck 2 so naturally I headed for that one first. All machines were full and this was at 6:45 am!!!! I thought I was being early. So, I went up to Deck 6 and all those machines were full as well. The lady in there waiting said she was already up on Deck 7 and those were full also. I checked the times on the display of the machines and figured I would just wait the 20 minutes until a machine was free...I knew if I left and came back someone else would be waiting.

The machines cost $1.00 to wash or dry and as other posters said you can add more quarters to the dryer to have a longer dry cycle.

The soap dispenser machine was $.75 per box and there was a change machine that accepted all bills up to $20. Note, the change machine on Deck 6 ran out by 7:30 am.

I did not find any chaos going on, but when I did return to get my things there was a machine that still had finished laundry in it 45 minutes after the cycle was done. When someone else came in I told them the clothes were sitting there so they removed them and use the machine. I would have done the same thing. Leaving clothes for 45 minutes after they are done is just rude. When the woman came back and saw her clothes on the table she seemed annoyed. I mentioned that 45 minutes was a long time to leave clothes especially since so many people were looking for machines. She very casually said, well I was having my breakfast!!! I just shook my head!!

I took a $10 roll of quarters and did 3 loads in October on the Wonder on Deck 2. It took 2 cycles to dry for sure. I had purchased laundry tablets from the "mini travel aisle" of Target. They were either Wisk or Tide I can not remember and I also took shout wipes. The change, laundry tabs and wipes all came in handy and gave us clean clothes for the WDW part of our trip.

Maybe I got lucky but I did laundry on our day at sea (4 day cruise) and easily obtained washer and dryers it just took forever to dry and I kept walking back and forth because I did not want to take the chance of leaving a done load in a machine since others were waiting.

I did laundry on the 4 day cruise also and I was the only one in there washing clothes until I finished drying them, then someone else turned up to use the washer...but there was no one ironing, no one washing or drying the whole time! I thought people would have started coming in to iron since it was almost 5pm by the time I finished but no one did.
