How Much for Villa Deposit?

We have rented a few villas over the years and we are in the process of booking one for this December. This is the first time someone has asked for so much up front- usually it is $300-$400- this time they want $620 and it is my understanding the security deposit is $600 of which we will get that back 21 days after our villa rental- again I don't think we have ever paid more than $300 for a security deposit. They are charging double the security deposit because we are there for 2 weeks........

It can vary significantly from owner to owner. Take into a account the owner's policies as well as price and home amenities when you decide where to rent. For example, another home may have lower deposits (or may even accept the security deposit via credit card imprint rather than cash), but may also charge more or have a less desirable home.

I feel your pain. We're renting a townhouse in Windsor Hills around Easter before we check in to Coronado Springs and the owner's policy is for a $500 cc hold. Way more than we've ever paid and we normally rent 5BR homes.
