How much for meals

Hi all,

I am going to Disney for 10 days in August. I will be staying at Pop Century with my wife and 9 year old daughter. We are going to eat a small breakfast and a small lunch and at night go to a sit-down restaurant. We will probably eat breakfast at Pop Century and on some days skip lunch and just eat a light snack. Also there might be some nights where we order Pizza to our room (so maybe every other night we might eat dinner at the food court at Pop). I am flexible.
How much money should I allow for my food budget? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Everyone's tastes and dining habits are different, so it's hard to say what it might cost for your family. I suggest taking a look at the menus on AllEarsNet.com - Menus From Around the World .

You can see what kind of food is offered just about anywhere on WDW property and what that food will cost. Don't forget to factor in gratuities for sit-down meals and tax (6.5%) for all food .

Don't forget to budget for drinks too. You will need to drink alot, and it's very expensive if you have to keep buying drinks.

The water in the fountains tastes horrible if you aren't use to it. (two weeks wasn't long enough for me to get use to it!)

If you are driving or renting a car, you can save a fortune by having bread, peanut butter etc at your room.

You can also share meals from the counter service, and order kids meals rather than an adult meal for yourself if you aren't as hungry.

It's expensive to eat all your meals at WDW. I'd over budget rather than have the food costs take away from your enjoyment of the trip.

You can also share meals with your wife it saves a ton and most of the sit down restaurants are very generous in the servings. They also know people do this all the time. I took my 70yo Mom and we shared dinners all the time, for $35 we had a steak dinner at Concourse Steakhouse, each of us had a salad and side dishes and we shared the steak and were plenty full. We always tip the waiter for the full price thou. They even served us the split steak on separate dishes. They were great. A lot of people at WDW do this so don't feel shy. Another great saver is the Brita Bottle, its a sport bottle that has a filter in it and it makes the water taste great. I usually do a lot of counter-service meals and I usually budget $10 bkfst, $15 lunch and $20 dinner and I never use that much. Enjoy and have a wonderful time.

I don't know about your family but only our kids like to eat breakfast so we bought them their fave cereal and they ate that, fruit, granola bars, and honey buns for breakfast in the room, saved good bit of money there, and we went offsite for a lot of our dinner meals, and counter service for lunch. The food courts at the resorts offer a lot of options. We budgeted $100/ day for us. It was me, dh, ds7, dd4. And almost every day we spent exactly that in the meals and snacks. Don't forget to budget for drinks and an occasional snack. Also, you may want to bring in some small snacks so you won't have to stop so much. Hope you enjoy your trip

You also might consider eating your bigger meal at lunchtime. It will save you some $$ (especially in EPCOT) - it always amazes me how the same basic meal can cost more later in the day!

Thanks for all your help. The information was great. I especially appreciate the link to the menus.

Almost doing the 60 day dance.
