How Much for a Taxi?

Anybody know approximately how much it would cost to take a taxi from The Beach Club to the Orlando Airport? Because we have a 7:00 a.m. return flight, I am thinking it might be easier to drop the rental car at The Dolphin the afternoon before and take a taxi to the airport in the morning. We could do ME, but boy that would be early!

Thanks!

Use the Mears Taxi Fare Estimator to estimate taxi fares in the Orlando area: http://www.mearstransportation.com/taxi-services/taxi-fare-estimator/

The estimated fare from Disney's Beach Club to MCO is $56.70 plus tip ("Please note that the fare listed is only an estimate and will vary depending on route taken, time of day and traffic conditions.")

I wouldn't pay $65-70 to get an extra 30 minutes of sleep (compared to DME), but it might be worth it to you.

You are right. It might not be worth it at all. I can always just drop the car back at the airport. I was thinking the other way might be easier, but that is a hefty taxi fare. Thanks for the info.

I agree that the fare is high..... And heaven forbid you get stuck in commuter traffic. :worried: The ME pick-up time will be early - 4:00 am - but is worth it to me. We've had that early call a few times (there are times that the earliest flights are the least expensive). It is what it is. I just grin and bear it ....after all, it is free! ;)

Thanks for your thoughts on this. You are correct - the 7:00 a.m. flight was $110 less than the flight leaving at 8:20 a.m. That is a pretty big price difference for an hour and 20 minutes.

If you're using your rental car to get to a 7:00 a.m. flight, I would leave the Beach Club around 4:00 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. The drive is around 30 minutes. You have to allow time to refill the gas tank and to return the rental car. I assume you're using Alamo or National (based on your comment about returning at the Dolphin), so turning in the rental car at MCO should be quick.

If you're not super-early risers and you want to maximize your sleep time, another option is to spend the final night at the Hyatt in Orlando international Airport. You could return your rental car at MCO the night before. Then, in the morning, you're already in the airport. Chances are the Hyatt's room rate is similar to or lower than your Disney room rate.

We are returning on a Saturday, so I don't think we will have to leave the hotel quite that early. I will fill up the car the night before -- after we are done using it. I have rented a car from Alamo every time I have visited Disney World over the years, so I am familiar with the process. The thing I was trying to avoid was driving to the airport in the dark. But, because I have done it many times, I will probably just suck it up and do it. Thanks for the input.

Don't underestimate the security lines early in the morning on a saturday - they can be brutal. I would be out the door by 4:30.

Well, I was planning to be in the car and on our way by 5:00 a.m., but after reading this thread, it will be no later than 4:45 a.m. I will talk to my friend. Maybe we will just use ME.

5am would be way too late. You wouldn't get to MCO until 5:30, earliest, then return the car and its 5:45, again earliest. You have to check bags....15 mins or so. Then security, which will be at least 15 mins, and probably closer to 25 mins! So now, you're looking at 6:20. Off to the gate..there by 6:30. The plane boards 25 mins prior to departure. Way too close for me.

Okay. We will either take ME or be in the car by at least 4:30 a.m.

On our last Sunday morning 7:45 flight we left WDW 1 hour 45 minutes before the flight, were the last ones on the plane and had to run.

We give ourselves a good 2 hours now with a rental and that is without checking bags. Security has been between 20 and 40 minutes. On Sundays we might add some extra time.
