We are talking over plans for our VB trip next May/June. We normally have already been in Orlando for 4-7 days before we go to VB but we are playing with the idea of just doing VB nexy summer for 10 days. I know some of you will scold me for this but I just don't want to spend the points for Fri and Sat nights. Yes I have plenty of points but I'm CHEAP!!!

So my question is, ''what might I be looking at per night for a 2 bedroom?" And for those who have done this is it aggravating connecting a point/cash ressie?

Thanks to all that reply.:D

The 2002 rack rate for a 2 bedroom in Regular Season (4/7-6/1) was $410. Summer Season, 6/2-8/24 is $370. Add on the tax of 11%.

If available, the member discount would be 25% off those rates. Sometimes they also have other specials or buy two nights/get one free.

Here's a link to the rates

Vero Room Rates

When I use my points and want to go back to HHI i always pick the weekend to use cash. most of the time it is the same rate as the weekday. Plus most DVC'ers use the stay Sun. to Friday it seems. They only have so many rooms for cash and only some for a certain rate. (example) I called ms for Dvc cash ressie for a 1bd for 9/5-9/11. nothing. I called AP number and they had nothing. Then I called CRO and asked for the Birnbaum offer.(the offical guide book) BINGO! Same date and 1bd. My last choice is to call the resort itself. Don't ask for DVC discounts at the CRO and the resort. They have no authority to ( or even know what you are talking about.) to give one. Sometimes the resort will give you a rack rate and somtimes they won't. It depends on how crowded they are. 2 years ago, I called all the numbers with no luck for a trip that we wanted to take the next day. (short notice) I called the resort, rack rates for the labor day week. They had a studio, so we took it. I think it was for 130 a night. That may not be rack rate but I think it is high for a studio. Open the door to our room and what a surprise to see a 2bd. They said nothing at the front desk about an upgrade but I was glad to pay 130 for a 2bd. So the morale of the long story is... don't give up when MS says no.

I would be tickled with 400 a night. My brother and I will split it the cost so thats not bad and it beats using points. If I get a DVC discount I will be overjoyed.

Does anyone know how busy the resort is last week of May, or first week of June??

Last summer we stayed in June and I had no problems getting ressies 7 monthes out. This past year when I booked for the first week of August I was told I got one of the last 2 two bedroom units.

This year last week of May was booked SOLID. We started trying at about the 5th month window , would have taken 1 or 2 BDRM and couldn't get anything. Only needed 2 nights (but needed both), kept calling right up to the day we left (had back up ressies at OKW). No luck. They had a studio in the Inn come open for 1 night - wouldn't work 'cause it was only 1 night and we had 2 teenage boys with us - Im not crazy enough to stay in a studio with them, LOL. Had a Beach Cottage come up for both nights, but we couldn't afford that many points.

Anyway, the short answer is VERY busy.

I will probably call day by day right at the 7 month window. And wait until that is complete before I add on the cash nights. Would this be the smart way to go?
