How much $$ for 7 day trip?

I figure our budget like this.

Character meals - $28 for adults and $18 for kids (that tends to be enough for a tip and meal)

Counter Service each day for one meal - my boys split one meal and hubby and I each eat - so $25

Breakfast - This is usually our get it quick from the room meal so that we dont get bogged down eating. The parks in the mornings are my favorite times, so we do cereal, pop tarts, breakfast bars, etc.

Snacks - $10 (maybe cheaper - just depends on the day. sometimes its just a bucket of popcorn for $3.75. Somedays we ALL get an ice cream making it more like $14. Again, it tends to balance out)

Drinks - I bought a filtered Brita water bottle that we carry empty until we are thirsty - so we dont really purchased water or drinks in the park any more.

So...about $110 a day for my family of 4. There are days when we eat "cheaper" since we dont do a character breakfast every day, but there are also days when we eat bigger, so it tends to balance out.

Also, we dont buy many souvineers until the last day. The boys are perfect age for Lego Land and we always promise them a run by DTD on our way out of town. Their they can purchase one more expensive set to share or get two smaller things so they each have one. We let them decide, guiding their choices just a little. We also buy one pin per trip. So....about $100 for a whole trip covers our spending.

Hi,

Go to Deb's site and read the menu's. Link to menus.
Click on the normal places you eat and you can get
an idea on the prices. Then multiply by how many
meals you will eat, and that will give you a total of
how much money you are talking about. Good Luck

P.S. - check into the DDE card (which we have for the first time for our next trip) and it might help you to save as well. Its now available to AP holders for $50 and gets you 20% off at lots of restaurants. Check the list. See if they are restaurants you are planning on using. Its a cool "extra" that quickly pays for itself and saves you a lot.

I might be able to rethink our budget a little after this trip with the card, but waiting to see when we actually use it.

For our 6 night trip we budgeted $800 for the 3 of us, two adults and a toddler. We eat almost all of our meals out, and include PS's at Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, Donalds Breakfastasaurus, Hollywood and Vine (Fantasmic). Then counter service for lunch and the hotel (Mara) for our other breakfasts. The one thing we did do is bring a Brita Sports bottle, so we never bought a drink at the counter service or by buying bottled water. It saved us almost $20 a day on drinks.

My rule of thumb used to be $40.00 a day per person for food, knowing that some days that won't be met and some days going over. When our kids we still at home, with the size of Disney meals, one meal split between 2 kids is plenty. Hate seeing folks get each child a meal and then throwing most of them away. Our experiences there now are that you can not eat 3 meals a day because of the size of the meals, thats sit down but some of the fast food meals are huge. My wife and I share one meal most of the time and this way we save money, aren't over full and have room for desserts throughout the parks. We're not cheapies but just using our heads since leftovers have no place to go or get reheated. Been there over 30 times and we have not missed any kind of food that Disney has to offer.
