How Much Does Your 9/10 Year Old Weigh?

I am not sure of DD's height, probably around 56" and is about 70lbs. She appears quite thin and requires a slim pant size. She is solid muscle as she trains in a competitive sport 20 hrs/week which probably makes her appear thin even though she weighs a good amount.

50 inches and 50lbs. She is 9. Her brother is 4 and weighs the same..lol.

My daughter just turned nine. She hasn't had an appointment lately, but my guess is that she weighs 55-60 lbs, and is about four feet tall. She's healthy, but always the smallest in her class. She's just a small girl.

DS is 10. He's 5ft 3 and weighs 120 lbs. That was 2 weeks ago at his pre-football weigh in. I do beleive he's lost a few pounds in the last 2 weeks (they're practicing 3 hrs a day M-F). He's the tallest kid on the team, but not the heaviest.

DS12 is 4'8'ish and 70lbs. He is all leg. He almost ate me out of house and home over the summer but since school is back in he's back on his meds.

DD10 is 4'4'ish and 65-70lbs. She looks a little bigger than him but it's her height. I had to put her in slims until this year. She is back into a regular.

DS is 60lbs and 52 or 54" tall (bad mommy, I forget!). We have a doctor's appointment next week to discuss this since he doesn't seem to be gaining much weight. I'm sure it's due to his ADHD meds that suppress his appetite. He just looks so incredibly thin. His little bones stick out :( Just curious what others around his age weigh.

My sons weight was a concern of mine for 3 years. It always seemed low to me. The school he attends does those BMIs and sends the results home, ours always says "UNDERWEIGHT".
Our pedatrician would resure me over and over that he was fine.
Last week we were there for poisin ivy and he stepped on the scale and BAM he gained 10 pounds since April.
I guess his doctor was right, children will grow and gain weight according to their body, not a chart.

My 9, almost 10 y/o DD, weighs 49 lb and is 48" tall. She has been diagnosed with IGF1-Deficiency. wwww.magicfoundation.org She takes subcutaneous shots BID and will until she's about 14 y/o. :goodvibes

OP, I have a son like yours. He is 7, is 45 inches tall and weighs 44 pounds. We had to stuff him to break 40 pounds. He just doesn't gain weight.

I would look at your family. Were there other males who were like that when they were young? In my husband's family, they were all built like that when they were children and young teens. By all means, talk with your dr if you are concerned, but it could just be his genes.

I wouldn't worry about it, some kids just take longer. My father always said he knew it was summer when social services stopped by when us kids were playing outside in our swimsuits. They knew we were being starved...:lmao:

OP, my son was always small also due to his ADHD meds. Very skinny and smaller than his classmates.
Don't worry, they do catch up! I used to worry about him, each pound gained was cause for celebration. We always pulled him off meds for the summer so he would eat!
And at times when his appetite would be really low, our ped. recomended supplementing his regular diet with milkshakes made with pediasure or nutramigen and ice cream, just to get his calorie count up.

He's 15 now and while not quite as tall as most of his classmates, he is getting there. His year check up he was 5'5.75", which makes him taller than his dad and I! And his weight had gone up to 118lbs. He is still wiry, but seeing more muscle definition now. He works out and is very active.

DD is 9 and 55", 85lbs. She has been built more solid. She started life in the 25% and around age 3 jumped to 95%.

DS turned 10 in March he is 53" and weighs 70lbs. (he plays soccer) He looks like Mowgli from the jungle book only with blonde hair. He is all legs and arms.

Your boy's bmi is calculating to about 15.6, which is 3 points under underweight :worried:

She's 10 and weighs 60 lbs and is 52 inches tall. She's small boned and looks healthy.

DD 10 is 80 lbs. DD 6 is 60 lbs. Neither is at all overweight, the younger DD is very tall for her age right now.

I had this problem with pumpkin same age and adhd, they put him on the patch. He's fattening up a bit. Still tall and thin but not sickly. It's called Daytrana. Also no side effects for him. Hes been on it for a year now. Totally different kid. Oh the best part is he takes it off in the evening so he doesn't
have meds running through him 24 hours a day.;) Of course this isn't what you were asking BUT it
was a concern I had when he was on other medication.

.... but I would question a doctor that doesn't warn you that your child may be pushing the limits. I am NOT saying he is overweight but you may want to check out an online calculator for BMI for children.

"A 9 year old (male) child
who is 104 pounds
and is 4 feet and 10 inches tall has
a body mass index of 21.8,
which is over the 95th percentile,
and would indicate that your child is overweight."

I posted first, then went back and read through all the posts.

I am just amazed by all the medical experts we have here on the DIS. It's great that we have posters with more medical experience than the doctors! :thumbsup2

My DD has been almost at 100th percentile since her first check up at less than a week old. She has continued on that path, and I used to ask the doctor if she was overweight or if I needed to worry about it and he said "absolutely not, she has continued to grow the same rate since she was born".
