eat?

How many times a day do they eat? And how much at a time?

Just trying to figure out my 7 year old LOL.

The short answer? It depends. ;)

Usually she's a grazer, eating 6-8 little meals throughout the day. But some days, I can barely get her to eat at all. :confused3

I have a hungry 7 year old! He eats breakfast, snack, snack, lunch, snack, snack, snack, dinner, snack, snack, snack, late dinner  No, really he does eat a lot of food. He is hungry at all times. The great thing for him is that no matter how much he eats he gets NO fat on him! Why can't that happen to me :confused3 I'm thinking it's because he's so tall for his age (off the charts), but I'm guessing that your 7 year old eats alot too and that's why you're posting?

Yes, she would eat all day (and not gain an ounce:upsidedow ). She is NOT a grazer, but eats full meals. I am always amazed at those who graze, if there is food, my 7 year old will eat it LOL. She is tall and her DR has said there is nothing to be concerned about. I just want to make sure she is getting enough to eat, but not "overdo" it. She seems to have no "stop" button.

My girls graze - they eat only little bits and here & there - For lunch I send 1 yogurt tube, a drink & a cookie. And sometimes they won't even eat all that!

for us it varies from day to day.

Breakfast is usually small for her
snack about 2 hours after breakfast
lunch with desert
snack about 2 hours after lunch
supper full meal and sometimes she has seconds
snack before bed which is usually 2 hrs after supper.

she sometimes eats more depending on if it something she really likes or if she's busy or bored.

Livndisney - I'm glad it's not just my 7 yo!! Our doc said the same thing, not to worry. I don't know if you've noticed this with your daughter but our son seems to be even more hungry now that he's swimming and outside playing. He too has no "stop" button :rotfl:

this seems to sum up my dd too. she has no stop button either so she would eat all day and night if I let her. she is tall and skinny with a fantastic motabilism I'd love to bottle lol...

My dd (7 51 inches 56 pounds) is eating us out of house and home. Wow, she is really busy and eats 4 or 5 times a day. Breakfast is 2 bowls of cereal or 2 scrambled eggs.

Snack is a yogurt or string cheese

Lunch is a sandwich with lunch meat, chips or a cookie, pudding and milk

Afternoon snack is the yogurt or string cheese she didnt eat at last snack

Dinner is a 6:30 pm and whatever we are eating that night about 2 helpings for her.

She is very active and runs all day long with the other kids, so I am sure that figures into it.

My very tall and thin DS7 eats like a horse one day and then like a bird the next day. We just never know what the day might hold.

our son eats 3 meals a day, rarely snacks although we try to get calories in.
hes only 45 inches and 42 lbs and 7.5 yo.

My just turned 8 year old doesn't eat much at all. If I didn't ask him to come get lunch or snacks he would probably just skip it. He is also a very picky eater.

At seven one of my now nine year old nephews was eating three meals a day and at least 3 small meal sized snacks. We quit ordering both twins kids meal last year because they would eat a kid size meal and then need an extra entre plus dessert.

One is ave height and lanky, active but not overly so, he could eat three scrambled eggs, 6 pieces of bacon, and toast and still need a snack an hour later at seven, now at nine he eats regular meals plus protien/carb snacks in between.

The other twin was more of a grazer but he is very picky, he is just slightly shorter than the major eater, but built more solid...however he is the extremely active child.

My dd1 just turned 8 in May and my dd2 is 6 will be 7 in Dec. and let me tell you that all they want to do is eat. OMG!
It seems that they are finished with what they are eating and looking for something else to eat.

It's crazy.

I have three kids 7 and up and a 3 yo following in her big brothers non-eating footsteps.

My DD at 7 (now 10) was and still is a grazer. She also nibbles her food (which drives me nuts:)). She eats very small amounts of food all day. She is tall and very thin.

My DS #1 at 7 (now 9) would and still will try to eat us out of house and home. He is also tall and thin. He will eat as much as I allow him to at a sitting. Our rule for Cameron is: after he eats his first helping of everything on his plate he must wait 20 minutes for seconds. If after 20 minutes he is still hungry he can have seconds.

DS# 2 is 7 now. He turned 7 in January. He is so small he looks about 5. He NEVER eats. In fact he is bed right now, because aside from a few bite of chicken, milk and yogurt he has no food for 3 days. I told him tonight that he must eat food to get energy. Since he has not eaten for 3 days he needs to get a lot of sleep so he can have energy for camp tomorrow (he went to bed at 7 after about an hour of sitting at the dinner table). He drinks milk for breakfast and water for lunch and dinner, he gets no juice (he was only drinking for a long time, so I had to do this to get him to eat food). Eating is constant battle with Justin. I have tried everything and had him tested for everything. The pedi says he will eat when he is hungry. I feel horrible every night thinking he is laying in bed starving.

My DS 7.5 is about the same size as your DS. He is 45 inches and on a good day fully dressed 40 lbs :rotfl: He goes back and forth between 38 and 40 lbs. I joke all the time that he is going to have to drive his first car in a booster seat since he has to be 80 lbs to get out of it.

My DD 9 is a challenge to get to eat at all. She is a non stop action kid, never sits still to eat a meal, weighs 54 lbs. Not sure about her height, but about same as her friends her age, although they seem to be at least 20-30 lbs heavier. I have talked to her doctor and they are not worried. Said as long as she is not loosing weight she is fine. I am not sure what is average weight for a 9 yr old, anyone have a clue?

My 7yo has nicknamed himself "the bottomless pit." ;)

My 7yo son is the exact same way. Some days I cannot believe how much he consumes - he outeats DH on those days...seriously, he does. And then some days he has a yogurt for breakfast and then I have to beg him to eat the rest of the day. Those days he just says he's not hungry (gosh I wish that happened to me!)

I was just talking to a friend about this. DD just turned 8, and is 50" tall & 54 lbs. She is eating me out of house & home this summer. It's like feeding an adult. She eats as much as my DH & I do. Anyhow, my friends DD is doing the same thing. I know she is very active, so that might be part of it. I don't know, but I definitely am feeling it in my wallet everytime I go to the grocery store.
