I am planning Olivia's first Disney trip and my son's 15th birthday trip for next May (2011). She will be 18 months old. The age difference is huge between the kids and I have forgotten so much it isn't funny. :lmao: How much do 18 months old weigh? I have a carrier that I plan to use. Not all the time, we are taking the stroller too. But for lines and buses I thought the carrier would be a good idea. Please correct me if I am wrong on that. What size does your 18 month old wear? We make T shirts so we are all in the same color. It helps trying to keep track of DS (ADHD and Asperger's). I was thinking it would be fun to make some Mickey tie dye shirts but I have no idea what size shirt (or should I have a onsie?) for Olivia. Thanks for any advice you can give!

Really there is no set weight range, my daughter weighed 16 lbs at 18 months and my brother's daughter weighed 26 lbs at 18 months

My DS is 19 months old. He wears size 18 month clothes right now. I think he weighs about 22 lbs.

I would practice using the carrier a bunch before you go. I haven't used one with DS since before he turned 1 because 1) it is too heavy for me and 2) he prefers to be down running after his 4 and 6 yo sisters.

My 7 month old weighs about 26lbs lol He is also 30+" tall...DH and I are both ridiculously tall.

My 20 month old weighed 26 pounds at her 18 month check up. And she has been in 24 month size since then too, we are about to graduate to 2T actually.

My 18 month old weighs 33 lb, but he has been off the charts on weight since birth. Unless your DD is used to a carrier, I wouldn't bring it. I tried it with my DS at 12 month when he wasn't used to it. He didn't like it.

A onesie or a tshirt either one is fine for this age. I would do 24 months in size unless she is really big or small for her age. (my very big 18 mon old will be in 3T soon. :D)

We already use the carrier. She seems to really love it. She did not like the slings though. She is currently 3 months old. I am just really thinking ahead. I will start making T shirts soon so I needed to know sizes. And I was wondering if the carrier was a bad idea too. We are not big people. I am only 5 feet tall and working on losing weight. DS on the other hand, weighed 23 pounds at 4 months old. He was a fat baby though. At her 2 month check up she was 9 pounds 14 ounces. I don't remember how fast babies grow though. And DS was just huge!

My oldest was 35 lbs and 36" at 18 months. He was 10lb 8oz and 23" at birth.

My second was 22 lbs and 32" at 18 months. She was 11lb 4oz and 23.5" at birth.

So - you see how their sizes were totally different at 18 months, despite their birth sizes being close.

I used the ring sling with my oldest until 33 lbs, which was 16 months. I was a tiny 96 lbs so it was all I could handle. (My second child is about that weight at 4 years old but easily carried however). I used the sling until 15/16 months with my second since she got too independent for it. I carried my third in thee sling 8-10 hours a day on our last Disney trip - he was 11 months and 23 lbs.

I think you will just need to wait and see for awhile..LOL

My kids were very close in size at birth- 7.2 and 7.5.. Ds#1 was only about 18 lbs at 18 months. ds#2 was about 35 lbs at 18 mos.. Now, Ds#1 is 14 and is 5'11 and weighs maybe 170.. Ds#2 is almost 13, is only about 5'2 and weighs about 90 lbs ( with him gaining about 20 of those in last year)

My son is 18 months old and weighs 26 lbs. I'm not willing to purchase a carrier that will carry that kind of weight (and only for a few more pounds anyway) and there is no way my son would go for it beyond a few minutes! Given that you already own one though, I would give it a shot for the lines and busues as you mentioned. You can just stick it in the stroller if it isn't working out.

I would recommend going big on the onsie or t-shirt. She can always grow into it and she might be able to wear it after the trip too. If you can do a onsie, I think you will be happier at the parks because a t-shirt would be pulling up from you carrying her.

Good luck!

my son isn't 18 months yet, (almost 15 months) and he's been in 18th month clothing since he was 10/11 months old. he's 22lbs (or was in jan) and 30 inches long. he has the cutest little thunder thighs!

and as for a carrier...my hubby who is a very large guy has to wear it. i couldn't even carry him for long when he was in the teen lbs!

My kids have always been small. My youngest is 13 months and weighed 8lb 8oz 3weeks early but is now only 20 lbs. I would guess he will be about 24 lbs at 18 months given his current size and that all my kids have followed the same pattern of being average as babies and going down in percentage for the first 2-3 years. He wears an 18 month but may still at 18 months. I would plan maybe a 24 month tshirt since big is better then small. As for the carrier, I am not sure I would do disney with a 20-30 kid on my chest or back :rotfl2: but that is just me. Last time I used my sling my babby was about 18 lbs and we did it for 2-3 hours and my back killed me afterwards.

HippieBabe just turned 19 months and she is 19 pounds. She is mostly in 12m tops, but 12m-18m bottoms because of her big cloth butt. :)

DD is sitting about 31" tall and 28 lbs at 18 months (well, 18 months on the 22nd...). The way she's growing she'll be able to ride barnstormer by fall!

My 18 month old is 28 pounds. And, he is very independant and curious. He would protest in a big way if I tried to use a carrier (my other 2 were the same way at 18 months as well).

We are going when he is 24 months (my plan would be the same for an 18 month old). I am planning to bring a backpack monkey that has a leash on it (some say it's cruel- but I bought it after my energetic DD was nearly hit by a car after breaking free from holding my hand and ran). This can be used inlines, and when he just needs to get out of the stroller for a while.

I am also curious about the "hippychick hippy seat", which another poster on Dis swore by. I'm just not sure if my guy willbe too big or not (he'll be over 30-32 pounds by then). Maybe that would work for you.

LOL This past weekend I wore HippieGirl on my back in our Ergo. She was extra tired and needed some love. She's small for her age - 37 pounds, but in a good carrier it's not bad at all. Last month my 60 year-old mom wore her - it was really sweet.
