How much does your 18 month old weigh?

DS 18 months is 31 pounds. He wears a 2T or 3T depending on the brand.

My oldest was 35 lbs and 36" at 18 months. He was 10lb 8oz and 23" at birth.

My second was 22 lbs and 32" at 18 months. She was 11lb 4oz and 23.5" at birth.

So - you see how their sizes were totally different at 18 months, despite their birth sizes being close.

Both of my boys were around the 36 inch 36 lbs at 18 months (they were also 30 in 30lbs at 12 months).

My oldest was born 5lbs 10oz, my youngest 6lbs 12 oz... so even if they start small they can still be on the larger size (my oldest is back to being tiny again now at almost 10, my youngest is almost the same size as my 10 yo at 7.5).

Your best estimate would be to add 5-10lbs to what she weighed at 12 months, especially if she has had good even growth

OMG! I thought DD was getting bigger... many of your babies at 18 mos outweigh her NOW at 2.5+ years!!

DS was 26 pounds at 18 months, he was 7 pounds 14 ounces at birth

DD is only 12 months, but she is around 18 pounds now, if she is more then 20 pounds at 18 months I'd be shocked, she was 7 pounds 5 ounces at birth

That being said, I can still carry DS on my back in my carrier, at 3 and 32ish pounds with no trouble and for a couple of hours if needed. You just need a good carrier to do it with. I have a Calyx that worked wonderfully for him at 18 months along with a Beco Butterfly. I currently use a WAHM brand for him, since it is made for older toddlers and preschoolers.

I am planning to bring a backpack monkey that has a leash on it (some say it's cruel- but I bought it after my energetic DD was nearly hit by a car after breaking free from holding my hand and ran). This can be used inlines, and when he just needs to get out of the stroller for a while.

I just bought one of these myself this weekend. My DH and others are totally against it, but I will be taking my 18 mo on a trip alone (ATL airport) so I don't care what they say!

i would think a 24month onesie would be a safe size....

my little one will be 18mos this trip....i know he will not want to be in the stroller all day but i don't want him running all over the place so i got...."the leash" :scared1: but babiesrus online has a mickey one and a minnie one...that way he can walk around in the crowds but not get away from me...we are in a large group of 13 so this is just a way to help me keep track!

OMG... did you take my baby! That looks just like DS2 from the back.Same curls and all.:rotfl:

OP... my two DS weighed about 20lbs at 18mths and DD weighed about 15. At 18 months depending on your child they might not like being in a carrier at all. I know I would have never been able to get them in one but we always used the stroller and DH would carry the baby when in line.

Good luck planning.... you will have so much fun!!

DS weighed about 23 lbs at 18 months. If your little one is used to being in a carrier, it won't be a problem at all. DS still likes being in the mei-tai or Ergo on our backs now at 3, and DD lives in a sling all day long!
