I'd love to see the jimmy buffett concert in vegas in oct. DH and I are not big gamblers but we'd play a little bit here and there. I can budget that. But I'm wondering what other things cost there. We're thinking of going for three days.

We went through SWV (southwest vacations) 2 july's ago and it was about $280 for flights and 3 nights.per person at thr Riveria .

You can find alot of good food cheap and coupons for 2for1 deals.

There are many of things to do that are free and you can drink free ( Tip ) even if you are just playing the pennie slots.

Rollercoaters and stuff are a bit high but nice as well.

Expensive!! Dh and I went to Vegas to see KISS. We're not gamblers at all either. We went walking one night and got thirsty. I was pregnant so needed something tame. We find a store in a casino/hotel and paid $6.50 for 2 CANS of Sprite! I was dumbfounded!

We thought everything there was expensive. Maybe it was just us?

Obviously, there's lots of variables, but here's some rough ideas:

Hotels (lower price is mid-week, higher price is weekend):

Cheap hotel (off stip): $30 - 60
Cheap hotel (on strip): $50 - 90
Mid Range hotel (on strip): $70 - 120
Higher-end hotel (on strip): $130 - 225
Ultra Luxury hotel (on strip): $225 - 500

Shows:

Afternoon shows: $20 - 40 per person
Low-end evening shows: $30 - 40 per person
Mid-tier shows: $50 - 60 per person
High-end, headline shows: $70 - 250 per person

Meals:

Fast Food: same as at home, roughly $15 for two
Coffee Shop: entrees around $12 per person
Mid range restaurant: entrees around $18 per person
High-end restaurant: entrees at $25+ per person
Buffet breakfast: $6.99 - 12.99
Buffet lunch: $8.99 - 17.99
Buffet dinner: $10.99 - $28.99

Attractions range from free (casino attractions, lounge shows, etc.) to about $30 per person (higher-end attractions like art galleries, Madame Tussad's, Shark Reef, etc.)

A cab from the airport to the strip should be between $12 and $18 depending on how far up the strip you're going. Trips up and down the strip are usually between $10 and $15, depending on how far you're going. A cab from the strip to downtown should be about $15 - 25, depending on where you started.

To keep costs down, look for hotel specials, especially mid-week. Pick up all of the tourist magazines (What's On, Showtime, etc.) for coupons to attractions. Go and see some of the free attractions--the Bellagio fountains and Conservatory are both breathtaking. The Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian are fun to explore. Especially for your first trip, hotel-hopping can provide plenty of free entertainment.

Hope you have a great time!

We found it to be inexpensive if we wanted it to be. Sure, you can spend a fortune there but we easily found cheapo spots to dine. We went for our honeymoon and it was a first time visit for us both so we had no need to spend $ on attractions. There was SO much to see for free! We did nickel slots and still got the free (plus tip) drinks.

Dining was a bit expensive until we hunted down the cheaper spots. Just meant we checked out lots of menu's when we were out exploring =)

(for our honeymoon, we did roundtrip air from DFW for us both, 2 nights at Mandalay Bay, 2 nights at The Paris, taxi when needed, food, drinks, souvie's for under $1000k total)

is vegas for sale?

if you get it cheep are you going to leave it open? or keep it all for yourself?

I agree with another poster that LV can be as expensive or reasonable as you make it. We have stayed at the Flamingo Hilton and NY NY and liked both hotels....but found by mistake The Orleans...It is off the strip. We ate several meals there as their buffets were excellent and very reasonable. The hotel looks very nice and we will give it a try if we go again. I have seen rates from 45-65 a night.....I have read several reviews and all posts were very positive about the cleanliness, large rooms which most found very nice.

We just booked the Bellagio for 4 nights in November. We are paying $1600. That is for a lakeview room and airfare. I booked the Cirque show "O" to see while there. That is an additional $300 for two tickets. I still have the show Jubilee to book but that one is only $200. We are going to take an airplane tour over the Grand Canyon but I have no idea how much that is going to cost us. Add food and PLENTY of gambling money and I'd say it will be over $5000! LOL!

I'm literally laughing so hard I'm crying!!! OMG!!!

Too darn funny.

For us the biggest expense of our trip to Vegas was airfare. We got a pretty decent rate at a nice hotel, ate well for not an outrageous amount of money, didn't really gamble much, and didn't spend too much on entertainment because there's so much to do in Vegas that's free, but airfare was ridiculous for a direct flight.

We had a great time, though.

We just got back from Vegas and had a great time, but it can be expensive. This was our first trip without kids so we spent a little more and had some fun! We had dinner at the Eiffel Tower and it was amazing. We're still drooling all over ourselves. It was money well spent, the souffle was to-die-for! The next night we went to In-N-Out and spent $17 and that included the t-shirt :teeth:

We bought tickets from one of the ticket brokers (at the Fashion Show Mall) to see Mama Mia! we had main floor seats and paid $100 for both. They had various Cirque du Soleil shows on discount too but I've been already this year and wanted something different.

We hotel hopped a lot and gambled, I had great luck with the Star Wars penny slot and the Texas Tea nickle slot at almost every casino we were in and that's a lot! I won $15 at the airport on the Star Wars penny slot on the way home too! :cheer2:

We stayed at the Venetian, which I adore, it's a beautiful hotel and the rooms are huge...I'll add pictures when I get the chance. We've gotten the Venetian through Priceline for $99 a night and this time we paid $179 a night for strip view. Sign up for the specials via e-mail, it's worth it! :cloud9:

Vegas can be anywhere from very cheap, to very expensive. In terms of hotel rooms, October is one of the more expensive months. And weekend rates can be twice weekday rates. When would you be going?

DH and I just got back from Vegas in July. We had a package of air fare and 5 nights at Monte Carlo for $1200. We took the Grand Canyon tour ($325 for both of us), and rented a car for one day just to look around in the desert and drive to California's welcome sign. All total with the package, Grand Canyon, car rental, food, souvies, Eiffel tower, and extras was about $2500. I didn't think that was bad. There is so much to do there. We went from hotel to hotel just looking around. There are a lot of free things to do. The hotels are attractions in themselves.

We want to go back and do a show. We were there for 6 days, and still didn't have time to work in a show.

We loved it. Last time we went to Disney was about 6 years ago, and we spent that much and more!

I think Vegas is one of the cheapest vacations we have ever been on. Check the travel sites, their packages are usually really cheap. Of course we aren't really gamblers, but we did play slots, and went to a show, Madame Trouseau's, and several other things at different hotels. Maybe it is just because I am cheap and easily impressed? :teeth:

We gone to Vegas for the Jimmy concerts every year for the last 3 years. Fortunately we can drive it in 6 hours so we don't have the added cost of airfare. I can tell you that rooms on the strip for those 2 weekends he is there are very pricey. We found out the dates and booked 2 rooms at the Flamingo Hilton before it was officially announced by Buffett and then we scrapped the 2nd weekend and got a refund. We are staying Fri/Sat and Sun leaving on Monday and at the Flamingo Hilton *where all us crrazzy dressed up, coconut bra and grass skirt wearers* stay and the hotel rate alone for the 3 nights is $534 just for the hotel.

Tickets for his concert at the MGM Grand Garden Arena go anywhere from about $100 to $300 depending on when you get them, where you want to sit and other variables. We bought higher priced ones for awhile but now we buy the cheapest ones and move around if possible.

The hotel rates for the first weekend of 10-20 for 3 nights range anywhere from $35 a night waaaay off strip near the California State Line to $450 for the Bellagio. If you want to stay on strip for a "reasonable" (for Vegas anyway) cost I'd suggest you try either

The Stratosphere or The Sahara as they have been generally less costly than other strip hotels. With the monorail working it isn't so hard to go from the Stratosphere to MGM as it used to be.

After those 2 suggestions for On-Strip hotels the rest of the On Strip hotels will average $150-175 a night for at least Friday and Saturday and then they may dip on Sunday to a lower cost. A good indicator of rates for rooms in Vegas is www.vegas.com

Also I don't know if you drink but at the Margaritaville Street Party and the Pool Party be prepared to pay a hefty price for a bottle of Corona. I think last year they were in the $5-7 range for each beer depending on when/where you bought it.

At all of the last 6 concerts we've been to in Vegas there have always been people trying to sell extra tickets at the street party or even at the MGM and some of them will take whatever they can get for them so you COULD get a good deal or you may get taken.

Feel free to send me a PM. This will be our 7th Vegas Jimmy Concert in Vegas so I can tell you some other things like a really fun concert/party on Friday night at Tommy Rockers called Last Man Standing. For the entrance fee you get a cheeseburger in paradise, a corona, a t-shirt and there are tons of us crazy parrotheads passing out various wares such as flashing pins and lei's and beads.

It is truly a whole weekend party down there and we've met some great phans too!

I laugh that everything in Vegas is $40 for 2.

When I took DS a few years ago while I was at a trade show we did the following and it was all about $40 for the 2 of us. We live in Reno, gambling is not our thing.

Mandalay Bay - Aquarium & a soda in the restaurant that had the bathroom that was featured on the Travel Channels 10 best bathrooms show

Venetian - Gondola Ride & Picture

New York New York - Double roller coaster ride & picture

Sahara - Double roller coaster ride & picture

Circus Circus - Wrist bands

Treasure Island - Midnight snack and "Virgin" foofoo drinks at Margaritaville

Mirage - Tigers & buffett breakfast

Yeah, but how much does Vegas cost?

I could empty out my piggybank if I need to.

I have stayed at several strip hotels, but I believe the Orleans is the best bang for your buck. We have stayed at the Orleans several times. The rooms are very nice and as mentioned above the buffet is good at a very reasonable price. If I remember correctly breakfast is about $7, lunch $10 and dinner $13 to $17 acording to what night it is. If you get on their mailing list (snail and e-mail) they will send good offers to you. 2 for 1 dining and free rooms. I gamble very little so I don't get the offers because of gambling. They also have a free shuttle to the strip.

Check the Orleans by going here http://www.orleanscasino.com/
