How much does Build-A-Bear cost?

Next week DS4 and I are going to have a mommy/son afternoon after I participate in his career day at preschool. I was trying to think of something fun for us to go do as a nice surprise for him.

I remembered that I still have a $25 gc for Build-A-Bear that he got for his bday a few months ago and thought we could go use that!

How much should I expect to spend over this amount? We've never done this before so I really don't know what to expect, other than I've heard it's expensive. Being a boy, I don't think he'll be too interested in getting the clothes to dress up his "bear".

Take a look at their website. www.buildabear.com Prices are the same as the stores. Bears start at $10 and go up from there. It really depends on what you want to get for your new furry friend. If you are going to completely outfit the animal with clothes, accesorries, shoes, and a voice box, you can easily spend $50-$70. If it's just a $10 animal and an outfit, you can easily get away with $25.

You could spend as little as $10, but that's not very likely.

They have tons of cool accessories. My son's last Build a Bear was a black bear with an army uniform, boots, sunglasses, hat, and brush (maybe something else?) and I think we spent about $40.

You probably could get away without adding anything to that $25 GC if you watch what type of Bear you get and the clothing. It all depends on what you get and what you get for it.. I know we have never purchased the "beating heart" nor have we ever purchased "shoes" for our Bears. My girls are now nearly 21 & 16. They don't play with their Bears, they are in their closests. I think of all the money I spent. We have several Bears for each of the girls and outfits too... One way to save money is to buy one outfit there and look on E-bay for others...

They have a great deal going on right now where you pick out a animal, a hanging outfit and 1 pair of shoes and it's 29.99. This included some of the 20.00 animals...so it's a good deal. We had a 10.00 stuff for stuff club certificate so it would be 19.99...which is enough to get us to buy one LOL

I think that the average price the we spend per kid is about $30. The least we ever spent was $8 each. I had $5 off coupons and this was when they first started the online game. They were dying to go and it was the week before Disney. The most we spent was $60 when my daughter had gift cards from her birthday.

Oh, and there are many accessories and outfits for boy bears. Karate outfits, stuffed motorcycles, beds, etc... Those Build a Bear people know their audience!

I have made a family rule that my kids can't buy shoes for their bears. We haven't had any yet that stay on for more than a few seconds and frustration about the $$ toy that we bought, is not something that I want to deal with.

If you get free shoes, I would go for slippers or something that is made of stretchy fabric.

You should google for BAB coupons, there are almost always some online. They will stack coupons too. If you have 2 $5 off $25 coupons, you can use both if you are spending $50.

My mom and I just did this for my daughter today! We were able to pick from any of the animals..didn't matter the price. And we were able to use the $5 off $25 coupon my mom had, so we got my DD a cute pink heart bear with outfit and shoes for $25 plus tax They had the disney princess dresses for the bears too (Cinderella, Aurora, and Tink were at my store) so for anyone whose daughter might like those you might want to check out the deal

They have other animals besides bears and lots of "boy" outfits (sports gear, etc.) Check out their website for prices and what is included in the $29.99 deal. He'll have a blast!

They have superheroes too....ours had batman and spiderman today. One of the boys was making a spiderman monkey..it was really cute! And the sports outfits are pro teams...being in Chicago we have bears/packers (lol!), cubs/sox, but other cities have their own teams.

Build a Bear has a T-REX also. It is possible to build a friend, with some clothes (not much) and no shoes for your $25 gift card.

The clothes and accessories are extra, but for the price of the bear (for instance, plain teddy $10), you get the bear, stuffing, a heart, and a birth certificate. There are upgrades to go inside the bear also, such as musical hearts.

Even if you have no immediate plans to get more bears, be sure to ask for their frequent customer card. After a certain number of bears you get free stuff.

My son did Build a Bear when he was 9 or 10, and he got a cute cat. He loved it, so a boy can definitely enjoy it! He and my daughter had gotten $25 gift cards for Christmas from Santa that year, and it was a fun outing that winter at the mall. He still asks to go back there again - and he's 12.

I think you'll be fine with $25 also, just watch what accessories. It is a fun place to go once.

I do the the dino store is cute and a dino lovers heaven but I personally was disappointed with selection of outfits and no bows for dino horns or tails. I will say I was there in Jan after a nov opening so things may have improved. Also I couldn't get my sfs points there. I could use Gift card.

Great info on the deal! My kids want to go again, so now I think we definitely will.
the last time we went I think we spent about $40 each. and that was being careful with all the accessories!
