Ispired by SunshineSis's Papa Johns thread. :)

I wonder if I'm tipping enough... Our usual total is about $19.50, and I round the check up to $22. So that's about $2.50 tip. Is that enough these days?? (I'm scared you guys are going to say I'm terrible for not giving enough-be nice! LOL!) :o

That's about the same tip that I would give. Our local pizza place is probably a quarter mile from our house so I think that $2.50 - $3.00 is good.

I usually give them $2. Guess I'm on the cheap side but we usually only order one pizza so the bill's usually around $10.

Depends on how many pizzas I'm ordering, the weather, and where I'm having it delivered to.

For 1 or 2 pizzas in decent weather to a dorm or student apartment, 1-2 bucks. To a home in a non-student neighborhood, 2-3 bucks. If the weather is really bad or I order more than 2 pizzas, I'll tip more.

I usually tip 15 to 20% for pizza delivery. I wouldn't think of leaving less than 15% at a restaurant(unless it was really awful service). The wait staff at the restaurant is walking across the room to bring my food, the delivery guy is driving to my house!
And with gas prices being what they are?

I don't think many people tip that much for delivery. That's why my pizzas usually get here in 20 minutes.:D

I think ya gotta be generious, they are driving their car, gas aint cheap, and they could be at home writing trip reports. Well OK that last one is only Robin but the point is if you think it is light it most likely is.

I think 5 bucks ona 20 tab is only fair, yeah it is more than 20 % but with smaller tabs the tip has to be looked at in real dollars.

Yeah 20% at a fancy place with a 100 buck a head tab is real money but the differance between 15 and 25% on a $20 tab is what, 2 bucks?

I would rather over tip someone working hard for smaller tips than the guy working at the fancy place.

Our local pizza place always has local delivery boys that are trying to make a living so we tip them enough to make them want to come back with hot pizza the next time! If I'm ordering 2 large I tip $5. If DS has friends over it's usually 4 large, I'll give them $8 for a tip. We only order once every couple of weeks for lunch while we are having fun around the pool.

I tip $3 for a $12 pizza. We use a $3.00 off coupon every time, so our $15 pizza ends up to be $12. I guess that's either 20% or 25% depending on whether you are tipping pre or post coupon.

Our dominos has gratuity included now and I dont tip extra on top of that. I always gave more than what they are adding on to our bill. Oh well, such as life

$2-$3.

I worked at a pizza place in High School and that is what the drivers said most people tipped. :)

I must be cheap, I never tip when I pick it up. I worked at a pizza place in high school and no one ever tipped when they picked up pizza.

I'm with Zurg. The people delivering my pizzas have been young kids and with the price of gas so high, what's 5 or 10 dollars out of my (actually DH's) pocket? And let me tell you, after the first 2 times of good tipping, they remember me when I call. It never hurts to be generous if you have the ability.

You tip when you pick the pizza up, I never do, am I suppose to?

I don't get why someone would tip if they picked it up.

15% or 3.00, whichever is greater. Pizza varies from place to place, but usually 16.00 is what it would cost for 2 pies.

This thread has been interesting. Sure wish some of you good tippers lived around here! DS delivered pizza for 2 years-during summers and school vacations. He found a very wide range in tipping, there really isn't a norm. He had a few big orders for which he got no tip, but then he'd have an order where they'd tip about 30-40%.

I usually tip $2-3.
