At CSR we saw the mousekeepper everyday so we felt obligated to tip her($6 per day). However, it did not get us anything extra. We were part of a very large group and many of the others in the group were getting extra soaps, towel animals etc. Some of these people were not tipping at all.
At ASMo(last week) I left a $5 tip the first day and again there was no extra service. Our soap was not even replaced. After that I opted to leave no tip. There was only 2 of us and we don't leave things lying around, all that had to be done was make the beds. I really didn't feel that that required a tip.
We had excellent service at All Star Sports this past Dec. On most days out mousekeeper was named Ana and was super sweet. There were only two adults in the room but we recieved animals and a basket made out of towels every day she worked. The unofficial guide states to put the tip on the bathroom sink but since it was christmas time we took an extra stocking marked "Mousekeeping" that was hung up with our two stockings on the dresser (we used over the door hooks in the top drawer). We tipped $5 a day and I left $10 on our last day but she really kept the place looking great. We even came back to the room early once to pick up some stuff we forgot and I saw her washing the doors around the peep holes and the lock on the doors. Most people never pay that much attention to detail.
I would think a job well done is a job well done regardless if you stay in a moderate, value or deluxe. Why would you tip them differently? Are you saying different classes of people work at the different level of resorts?

Housekeeping: $1/day/person (left in a marked envelope). For turndown service, or if you request an item be delivered to your room, such as a hairdryer or iron, tip $1/item.
Here are some ideas for homemade Mousekeeping Envelopes:
Hope this isn't a stupid question, but when do you leave the tip ? Do you just set it out before leaving for a park in the morning ? If the room dosn't get cleaned well do you stop tipping ? This is are first trip in a long time and until this thread it wouldn't of really crossed my mind to tip, but it made sense to me once I thought about it.
I leave the tip when we leave the room for the day. I personally haven't experienced Mousekeeping that wasn't up to par so I am not sure what I'd do if they didn't clean the room well.
We try to leave $2 per person per day. We heard that from someone else but that gets really pricey if there is a lot of people, there are four of us and now the next time we go down there will be five. But if you ask for any extra things like towels, hair dryer, pillows, etc leave more. We asked for a change of sheets the middle of our two week stay and we left $2 more than what we usually left. And make sure you leave a tip every morning because the mousekeeper might be a different person every day. And I haven't experienced Mousekeeping that was bad either.

I was wondering ther same thing. Should I tip them on a daily basis or just give one large lump sum at the end of our stay? this may have been asked already but i am just trying to clarify which option would be best.

We always leave the tip with a note so they know to take the money. We tip at DVC too....because we always choose to add daily trash/towel to our room.
We tip the turndown people too...when staying in deluxes.
I think I will preprint the envelopes...that is a cute idea.
Been to Disney many times and have never tipped mousekeeping, after reading this thread most likely will now....stayed at Grand Floridian once and the all star resorts rest of the time....mousekeeping there has always been better than at GF......Some have stated they tip more if at a moderate or deluxe....I don't understand the reasoning for this...I would think the people who work at the value resorts are as deserving as the others....do mousekeepers start at value and get promoted to moderate hotels and deluxe.....maybe someone could answer that.

My December trip will be my first time in a Moderate (have always been in a Value Resort). I will tip the same there that I have in the past $2-3 dollars per day (just me and DH are going). I have tipped at every hotel that I have every stayed at (Disney or just a local Holiday Inn). That is something that my parents taught me.
