how much do you pay for health insurance?

I pay $360 a month for my husband and I; my employer generously picks up the balance which is another $1000 per month. We have a PPO with a $2000 deductible and an 80/20 split.

A family plan here costs an employee closer to $750 a month but the employer generously picks up the $2000 per month difference between the actual cost and the employee's contribution.

I love when employees here complain about the coverage or their portion; they have no clue what companies pay for their employees' health and work comp coverage.

We were getting it through DH's work. They're on some progressive system, where the more you make, the more you pay. We paid about $400/mo for 2 adults and 2 kids. I just started a new job where it's 100% paid by my employer, so we're stopping his and switching to mine. I think the co-pay is $20.

I'll never complain about my benefits again.
I pay $0 for family medical coverage and about $35 per month for my family dental coverage. No co-pays. No problem with the coverage. Over the years we've had a few surgeries,a cronic condition involving specialists, a baby, and a few er visits. Never paid a penny for any of them. I pay 20% on scripts after $100 deductable per person per year.

My wife's insurance is paid through her employer (teacher) and we pay $75 a month for dental and extra prescription coverage.

My insurance is $175 a month w/ my employer and my kids are on their own policy for $80/month, so we pay $330 for a family of 4.

Can I just say, reading this all has made me want to cry! I hate my benefits, and would give anything to have what some of you have for plans.

i'm in Australia, so it's different here but i thought it might be interesting for people.

my husband and i pay around $80 a month for the both of us. this covers free dental check-ups and cleans, ambulance, some hospital procedures (basic things like tonsils, appendix, accidents), plus we get 50% refund on general dental, optical, physio and natural therapies.

everyone here also pays a 1.5% Medicare levy of their taxable income. some people also have to pay another 1% surcharge. this covers most GP visits, eye checks,

Yowsers, I was mad because our prescriptions just went up from $5 to $15, generics are still $5. I pay $120 a month for 2 adults, no deductables except a $50 copay for ER unless the doctor sends you there. $15 per doctor visit, free mammograms, xrays, blood work, hospital stays, yearly well checks. They did have chiropractors but I think they dropped them, accupuncture is included with a $15 copay.
Dental I pay about $40 a month?? (I should really look at my paystub more), it's suppose to be great insurance but it always seems that no dental insurance is that great. I think the ceiling is $2000 a year with a $50 copay a year, free twice a year cleaning, fillings but root canals-crowns seem to have high deductables. Vision is free through the employer and includes checkups and cheaper glasses but I never use it so not sure. I go to a non provider optician. Anyone else have Kaiser
Delta Dental, VSP as a State of CA employee, if I misquoted, feel free to correct me.
Not so mad about the presciption price after reading the first page of this thread.

Wow, I am amazed at some of these figures!! We pay $360 a month pre-tax through DH's employer & another $25-30 a month for dental. $20 copay & $45 for specialist. 80/20 after $500 deductible per person. Prescriptions are $5 for generic, $45 for name & $55 for formulatory I think? I know one of DD's asthma meds is $55, the other 2 are $45. Thankfully they last 2 months but still... Dental covers $1500 of ortho for DD & 100% preventative.

We pay 400 per month for family coverage with dental and vision. (I'm sure our employer kicks in quite a bit, as well.)

$25 office visit
$35 specialist
$75 urgent care
$250 ER

80/20 with 400 per person deductible. Totally stinky script coverage...we pay 40% of retail cost.

We pay 750 a month and have a 5000 deductible!:scared1: It goes higher and higher each year! Next year we will have to prob drop out!:scared1: We can't afford it now!

I pay about $175 a WEEK for medical and about $17 for dental.

In the months that there are five paydays, I don't pay on the 5th week.

I work for a non profit. They pay for half of my insurance, and nothing for DH & DS9 & DS15. If it was just me, I would only pay $41 a week.

I do appreciate that this policy has no lifetime cap tho.

Wow, I feel really lucky after reading what some of you have to pay. My husband is in the hvac union. We pay 27 a month for union dues. Dr.s visits are $10(regular,specialist etc), e.r visits are $50 unless you're admitted then it's waived. We do have a $50 deductible for dental per person once a year and after that we pay 20% of whatever it is. We don't need any referrals for anything.

DH is self-employed.... we pay a little over $1250 a month for a family plan (2 adults/2 kids)... for an HMO. There's a $1000 a year deductible too. We don't have dental insurance so we have to pay OOP for dental visits.....Premiums go up Feb. 1st as they do every year :( :( Dreading what it'll be this time....

op here, thanks so much everybody for chiming in. it is fascinating to see the huge difference in what people pay and how much their employers kick in. since my family seems to pay for employer-sponsored insurance what most self-employed people are paying for private policies, it got my husband and i wondering if our group rate was affected by someone in the company possibly having a catastrophic condition that raised the rates for everyone. heck it makes me wonder if it's ME since i've got a brain tumor that is in my medical records, even though i haven't even had a mri since 2005 or any treatment since my husband has been employed with this company!

My employer pays 100% of the premium for my family plan which is $1200/month (that also includes a dental rider).

$10 co pay
$20 co pay for specialist
$40 co pay for emergency room visit
$300 co pay for hospital stay

Prescription drugs $10/$30/$50
$300/year health dollars for adult fitness classes/physical activity

No annual deductible another than listed above, no out of pocket min/maximum and no lifetime maximum.

I knew I was blessed to have my health insurance paid in full but didn't truly realize how much until reading this thread! I don't make big $$$ at my job, but I always try to remind myself that I have to include the cost of my health insurance when I am figuring my salary..

Thanks for the eye opener!

I know we are VERY fortunate in the health care department. We get FULL medical, dental and vision for $0 per month. OOP for office visits is $10 for regular doctors, and $25 for specialists. Very reasonable.

And, my husband only works 20-25 hours per week for these benefits. :goodvibes

Our health insurance is currently coming from my job since my DH was laid off. I work 25 hours a week ror a school district and pay $477 a month (plus another $20 for both dental and vision). That's for 2 adults and 2 kids. We chose the 2nd least expensive option. We could be insured for less through Kaiser but we've never used them before and weren't prepared to give up all of our doctors. When we used my husband's insurance, we paid $180 a month. Provided he ends up at a company with a less expensive plan, we'll go back to using his when he lands a new job.

We pay $113 every2 weeks for family medical, dental and vision. We have $1500 per person, $2500 per family (max) dedutible. $3k out of pocket individual max, 8500 family out of pocket max. 80/20 plan. vision covered in full, no copay, its typical VSP plan. Dental $1000 max/year, $1200 ortodontics. Employer puts $600 into HSA account and pays for the first $600 in claims per year from this, if you don't use any of it, it rolls over. This is different from a flexible spending account (which I have for our family).

Hubby works for a major nationwide retailer....if that makes a difference.

Hubby is retired military so we get our health insurance that way...

We pay $460 for the YEAR. Our office visit co-pay is $12 as long as we see a doc that participates with Tricare. ER co-pay is $30. Rx is $9 for a 90 day supply through mail order. (DS5's asthma Rx is $175 per month so this saves us a lot!) $3-9 per Rx if we go to Walgreens. Rx is free if we go to the base, buts an hour away and easier to mail order most of the time.

No vision or dental.
