We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids...and just looking at our ADR's wondering how much is the average that other families allocate for food. We are not on any dining plan. We plan on doing a table service meal twice a day on most days, there are 1 or 2 where we only have 1 rez but may still end up doing a TS at DTD. We have only 2 character meals... Tusker House breakfast and Chef Mickeys breakfast. Right now, we are guessing we will spend on average $225 a day for meals/snacks. Does this seem about right? Too much, not enough? We've never really paid much attention to how much we spent on food.

Seems about right to me. I ballpark $50pp per day for adults (with no signatures.)

Why no dining plan? Are you off site? Because the deluxe dining plan would cost you less per day (assuming your kids are under 10?) and gives you 3 meals a day-counter or table service-not to mention your snacks

Check out the menus on allears.net. They have menus with prices for all of the restaurants.

I'm budgeting $800 for our party of 2 adults and a 2-year-old, for 6 full days & 2 travel days. I used the menus on All Ears to see how much we'd likely spend at the TS's we have planned - we're only doing 4 & 2 are buffets so that's a set price. Then I budgeted $30 for each CS. And rounded up the total.

No dining plan, we're on a room discount at the Poly.

You can still add on a dining plan even with the other discount - you just have to pay Disney's price for it. If you have the 2 character meals and other TS ADR's, it is probably worth it for you to add it to your reservation.

Not sure if our plan works for you.
4 adults, DH. DW, DS age 19 and DD age 16 = $200 per day -
but we normally have money to bring back per day.

Lunch or Dinner CS = $40 for our family
Lunch TS = about $100 for our family
Dinner TS = $140 for our family

So we are $140 or $180 per day - but allow $200 per day for a change of plan and a splurge :rotfl:

Our Plan:
We do breakfast in our room - so very little cost, maybe $10 per day.
We do get those refillable mugs to use.
We skip dessert most of the time too, unless it comes with the meal.

Then we eat a TS lunch (less expensive) most of the time and a CS dinner.

We do vary by doing a CP late breakfast (counts as lunch) on an early entry MK morning. we have done a TS dinner if we are staying for a late night evening extra hour, such as 50 PT at DHS - we eat OPP so we can pick less expensive items- and again no dessert.

Other great OOP places - lunch at CP in MK, dinner at H&V in DHS.
Even GF 1900 Park Faire for TS dinner - worth the money and a great place to see Cindy & the Prince for less than the Castle :goodvibes
