I am sorry you are disappointed, but all of this seems to me to be very minor and not something that would upset me, let alone make me hate a hotel. We all know room requests ate only requests and in no way a gurantee. frankly, everything else is truly VERY minor. I honestly think you probably started out this stay wishing you were at the Contemporary and waiting for GF to disappoint you so it is a self fulfilling prophecy and that all of your complaints stem from not getting your room request, which was just that, a request.

I agree. :thumbsup2

Customer service at Disney should be top notch no matter where you stay or what you pay. That being said, it seems your issues could have been handled better. In particular the valet parking service.

The text about the room was more likely a lack of cell service than a Disney issue. Blame your carrier for that one. A quick search of these boards will show numerous complaints about cell service issues.

I have to admit when I type a post from my iphone, I at times probably sound like a crazy lady or at least some one who is ESL ( english as a second language).

I agree with this! As I was reading along I immediately realized the op was using their smart phone or tablet with autocorrect. No big deal. I had no problem figuring out what she meant.

People on this board can get so rude about the smallest thing.

To the op: I know that checking into a Disney hotel is usually a magical experience. No other hotel feels this way. When you come to expect this it is disappointing when the magic is not there. Also, I remember the few times I was treated rudely by a cm. it doesn't happen often but when it happens you really remember it.

I hope your trip is getting. I haven't read all the rest of the posts yet so here's hoping you got switched to cr.

Um, BC is a DVC resort - the villas are the kind of turqouise looking buildings to the left (Epcot side) as you face the front of the resort.

My impression was that the DVC/Villa part was something separate from the BC itself so I thought the comment meant those parts only gave the welcome home. Sounds like POFQ does it as well though.

I don't get the "think before you act" comments. I'm glad they keep a record of any complaints you have made. I'm sure a lot of us have been to Disney numerous times and if there are complaints on record, Disney will see where they need to improve. I'm not ashamed or afraid of any complaints or concerns I have made over the years. This sounds like a fear tatic that if somehow you complain you will be treated differently when visiting Disney in the future:confused3

I have had at least three room complaints over a course of many visits and all were handled professionally by Disney. To say "think before you act" implies that the person making the complaint is doing something illegal or embarrassing. If people don't demand professional customer service or getting the type of room they paid for, etc., then I don't think we would enjoy our vacations as much (this may be a run on, sorry).

I was able to read the original post with no problem. I'm an English teacher, but I don't correct people's grammar unless it's during the hours that I am paid to do so or the people in question are immediate family.(DS and DH love me for it so much, lol!)

I am sorry you aren't enjoying the GF. I am a total GF cheerleader and one of the reasons is that management there is typically very responsive to requests and feedback, so I would absolutely encourage you to seek someone out and tell them what you are feeling. To me, none of your issues are dealbreakers, but obviously they are to you, so let management know. It's not about what you're paying; it's about keeping things magical.

Also, I know you are disappointed with not getting Sago Cay and with Big Pine's location. Keep in mind that the GF has no idea what characteristic you like about Sago, so they do not know when they are giving you the opposite

I think it's sound advice. If you have real issues, they will see those in the computer and maybe work a little harder to avoid goofing up again. If you have a string of "but I wanted a HIGH floor!" and "What do you mean I have to walk aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way over there?" and "My room wasn't ready 3 hours before check in!" and some of the other silliness we see on the Dis, they will know they can tune out the whining. (Because really, some of the complaints we see here are *silly*.)

Agree! When someone is upset, he is not exactly concerned with correct grammar. If you don't want to read the complaint, then leave the post. You don't have to be snarky about it.
To the op, I completely understand your frustration. The same thing happened to dh and I on one of our trips when we stayed at the Poly. Dh got us moved to CR, and the rest of the trip was uneventful:)I definitely agree to speak to someone now. You never know, perhaps they will have a last minute room opening somewhere you will be comfortable.

OP, are you willing to change rooms or are you okay staying where you are? If it's difficult for your aunt to walk the distance at the end of the day or the view is important to you (and it sounds like it is) please see a manager and request a room change. They aren't always able to make the change immediately on the day you make your request but Disney was able to get us changed the next day both times we requested connecting rooms and they weren't able to give them to us at check in.

I know it's disappointing to have customer service and room issues on holiday. Keep trying for a change if you feel you would be happier in a different room though. Sometimes a shift change can bring in just the person to help you. Good luck!

I'm a self-professed grammar nazi, and even I am shocked and amazed by the rudeness of the people correcting and complaining about the OP's post. "Good grammar is a form of politeness"? Yes, well so is not criticizing another person's writing skills when that isn't the topic at hand! Get over yourselves! It really isn't about all of you who want us to think you are Rhodes scholars by looking down your noses at the OP. If you can't read it, then move on and leave your snide, worthless commentary unspoken.

OP, I feel for you! You aren't upset that the check-in was 1:30. You were upset that they told you they'd contacted you to check-in 2 hours earlier but had not. That's bad customer service. When you're traveling with a kid who isn't feeling well, that 2 hours makes a BIG difference. I've btdt at Disney. The Contemporary got us checked in at 10:30, and my oldest ended up sick in bed most of the day. It really helped! The point isn't when you checked in, it's that they claimed something they did not do.

Personally, I'm not all that interested in the GF because it has some locations that seem so far from transportation, so I think you've got a valid point. It's the most expensive property, and whether you book 1 person or 200 people, it behooves Disney to give you the same excellence of service.

I'd suggest seeing if you can borrow a complimentary wheelchair from the GF for the 70 year old to assist in covering the distance. You can also rent an ECV or wheelchair in the parks or rent an ECV from an offsite company.

Good Luck!

I hope this can make the OP feel a little better about the GF. We have stayed at the GF many times and obviously love the resort. Big Pine Key is our favorite building because of its location. I am mobility challenged, just had to finally have a total knee replacement, and as I have been dealing with the pain we always requested Big Pine. I think it is less walking for how we do Disney. It could be that the folks at the GF may think this is the case generally and thought they were helping out. I know that it may not be less walking in your case but since it is requested for this reason by many, this may have led to confusion.

The woman came here for help and to talk about her problems, and people find the need to complain about grammar?

This is an online forum, not some Princeton school of grammar.

People need to relax and sit back and enjoy the summer and the fact that its a Friday.

My Goodness. and we wonder why this country is so much in shambles and torn apart.

I don't feel people were being the grammar police when they pointed out that paragraph breaks would have made the large paragraph easier to read. I take it as a helpful hint for the next time they post.

Or the OP could edit to put in some line breaks every now and then. It just makes it easier on the eyes.

Not trying to start anything, but all of you took the time to read it and then criticized the OP. If you were able to read it and make a post about it, you shouldn't be complaining about her grammar.

Since this has turned into a grammar debate instead of a resorts discussion, I think we can end this here.
