How much did you spend on your dvc membership

/
Our first buy was after a Disney cruise when we found everyone at the table was in DVC and loved it. As west coasters it was not anything we ever considered. SO we bought 200 retail at the grand california for $28000 and loved the staycation weekenders. So when DLH opened we planed on buying a few points, I was thinking 75, but when the guy told us 150 gets you the blue card that was all my wife needed. You know when you have no chance. It was $27000 as I recall.

Still very happy with both purchases, going next weekend. Pool drinks and parks without a long drive or a plane flight

How many OKW contracts do you have?

12.

I have 4 kids so I needed bite size chunks for distribution when they're old enough. People are staggered by the points and the dues I'm paying (~$32K), but in the next 10 years I will confer 2400 points (and their dues) to my kids. Somehow, DW and I will have to live on around 1K Poly points and whatever else comes next.

I started reading this thread a bit upset cause the real numbers get scary and not so magical pretty quick, but as I read on I realized we’re all crazy and I don’t feel like the sole insane person spending ~$97,000 on 575pts! Thanks guys!

Our average isn’t that great at ~$168/pt and frankly, it’s only going to get worse cause we want more direct points but is don’t feel so bad anymore!
Knew it, it only got worse. We’re at 725pts now averaging ~$180/pt 🥲 and I still want more direct points…might have to sell one or two contracts before that happens though.

120 Direct PVB in 2015- $22,000 ish
120 Resale AKL in 2020- $14,000 ish
100 Resale SSR in 2024- $11,000 ish
160 Resale BLT in 2025- $21,000 ish

500 points, a mix of direct and resale, for a grand total of around $68,000. 24 year old me in 2015 was terrified to tell my parents I had dropped over $20k on a Disney “timeshare” contract. Now they use our points just as much as we do 😂
You need 30 more direct points so you can get the blue card! Now that every resort will let you buy 25 that shouldn't be so bad ;)

I’m still wanting to add up my cost per point. I will… eventually. If I hadn’t bought 2 VGC’s I wouldn’t be so afraid to add it up.
Great minds think alike. I just had the same thought and worked it out.

We've got 605 points (all direct) spread out amongst Poly, BLT, VDH, and recently OKW. Like I said before, never thought we'd be at this level but glad we made it.

Buy In Cost $100k
If buying direct today $142k
If buying resale today $86k

Our average $/pt is $165.

We bought our first set of points in 2017 or 8 years ago. The only thing I can take away from this is if buying direct today it will be far less than buying 5-10 years from now. As for resale, I'm not so sure. I kinda think the resale market prices will be a bit flatter for longer. Will be interesting when the flood of 2042 points (17 years from now) come off the board what prices will be.
