I know it's nosey question but I was wodering how much everyone paid per point.

We paid $71 a point for a 250 OKW contract with 500 banked points earlier this year.

We are happy. I met some people who paid 45 a point.

Hi -- we paid $48 per point for a 310-point contract at OKW. Bought it as a resale way back in 1996. Got to enjoy the free park passes through the end of '99, so it was and is a great deal.

we paid $63 back in 99 for the BWV wish we knew about resales to save some money

$65 at BWV direct in 9/99. There were very few resales on the market at that time (for BWV).

We bought a 300 point OKW resale back in 1997. We paid $53 per point, I think. I'm sure we could have haggled a bit, but we decided we wanted it, and didn't want to fool around. It came with 150 banked points, and free park passes for three years, and we still say it's one of the best things we ever did!

In 2000 we paid $73 per (I think) direct from DVC. In 2002 we paid $65 per on a resale. Wish I knew about resales in 2000. :charac2:

$74 per point at BCV for 300 points, price with magical beginnings from Disney.

THIS THREAD IS DEPRESSING. I really wish I had known about DVC way earlier and gotten in on those great deals. But we are still very happy with our puchase.

Just paid $74 a point for VWL, 150 with all 2004 points. Just called and got my membership members yesterday and banked the points.

In '97 we paid $62.50 per point for our original 230 point OKW contract and I think we paid $65 per point for our 150 point add on. Both were direct from DVC.

How did you get 500 banked points with a 250 point contract????

Here is a history of DVC point pricing -- average price per point charged each year by DVC, reflecting price changes during years as appropriate and excluding price incentives, but including developer's credits for SSR. So the initial 2003 SSR price of $89 less $10 developer's credit is considered but the recent F&F discount is not.

DVCI
1991 $48.26
1992 $52.88
1993 $56.75
1994 $59.30
1995 $62.13
1996 $62.75
1997 $62.75
1998 $62.75
1999 $65.00
2000 $66.25
2001 $73.55
2002 $78.25
2003 $84.00
2004 $86.08
2005 $90.60
2006 $93.13 (two-tier pricing began 4/06 with only BWV, WL & BCV going to $95 from $92)
2007 $95.15 (projected; multi-tier pricing began 3/07 OKW, HH & VB $92; BWV & WL $98; BCV $101)

DVCII (SSR)
2003 $81.04
2004 $91.98
2005 $96.60
2006 $99.50
2007 $103.47 (projected)

DVCIII (AKV)
2007 $99.47 (projected, including developer credits)

Minimum contracts were 230 points until about 5/93 when they dropped to 210, then dropped to 190 around 1/94 then dropped again to 150 around 5/97. New minimum of 160 effective 3/07.

Does MS handle resales or do we have to contact the sales rep. who sold us our original membership??
I would like to inquire about resales.

Your guide can sell you points to sold out resorts if they are in inventory. If not, they will put you on a waitlist until they acquire them by exercising right of first refusal. DVC charges $89 per point.

If you want resale, you can find them cheaper through resale brokers like the Timeshare Store (link at the top of the page) or other brokers.

We paid $70 per point the first week BCV became available.

$55 Per point for our first OKW contract of 230 pts with a bank of 230. 63 (or close, I forget) per point for our 270 OKW contract. Both use years the same............and both resales thur the Timeshare Store.

Actually, it is not depressing, but exciting to me. It was our first trip to Disney, and we are planning to visit at least annually. As a matter of fact we got APs for the family. We just loved Disney and almost everything about it. I am glad to get in know rather than 2, 3 or even 5 yrs of vactions later. I will pay $85 for SSR, knowing that it will be worth even more a few years down the line.

I would consider myself the type who would never consider a traditional "timeshare," or anything like it. It'll be worth half of what you pay for it (or less) when you want to sell it. I don't feel that way about DVC. And that's why I am getting ready to make the plunge.

Need some input on the number of initial points. The 150 to get in seems to be a good way to go and then I can add on as time goes on, but perhaps the points may cost more, or be from a different resort. I am considering 200, or maybe settling on 175 to start. Any opinions?

All 2002 and 2003 banked.

For our 1999 BWV contract we averaged $55.50 ppt factoring in a $2000 buy back offer using magical beginnings (MB). For our 2001 VWL contract MB allowed us to average down our cost to $65 ppt.

Average cost across the 2 contracts = $60.25 ppt
