How much commision do the travel agents make?

Just wondering.... waiting 4 hours on hold....got me to thinking how much do they make?????

Yeah, I was wondering that too. I was taking my kids to school, working out while my TA was on the phone for 3 hours this morning She kept my friend and I updated by emails and she got exactly what we wanted.

My girlfriend was sending her a nice gift that we are splitting. Well, she will get all my future business as this was my friend's travel agent not mine. She did good!

I am pretty sure I read 10%. Maybe someone who knows can confirm.

I'm pretty sure also that it's 10% of the commissionable fare, which is to say what Disney earns on the fare (i.e. less taxes/port fees)

That maybe what the agency is making, what the actual agent makes depends on what their split is with the agency. Some agency pay a salary so the agent doesn't get commission. That is how my aunt used to work when she was a TA before she retired

Well, I have to say, I was so excited this morning when I already had a request with DCL directly through the onboard booking agent and my TA had a request in for me.

But, just to be safe, I went online to try to book myself and I secured 2 rooms in the category I wanted and I thought...wow, this isn't so hard.

But then... I went to apply my credit card for the deposit and I was locked out. It said that the date I wanted wasn't available anymore. I nearly cried. I was so sure everything would be fine, with all of my different options, but then, it all fell apart.

About 2 minutes after that happened, I got an email from my TA saying that she had got me the category I wanted and connecting rooms and at a better rate than I had found. I burst into tears with excitement. I had almost lost the Disney Magic and she brought it home! I sure do appreciate what she did for me.


I hope she makes alot! She saved my dreams...
